Black Ops 6 Prestige system explained
ActivisionBlack Ops 6 marks the return of Call of Duty’s traditional Prestige system, scraping the seasonal leveling in favor of a straightforward structure.
For those intrigued, here’s exactly how Prestige will work in Black Ops 6, including details on the max level and more.
How does Prestige work in Black Ops 6?
Once you reach the max level of 55 in Black Ops 6, you can Prestige to reset your rank and start again with a new icon. While loadout content is reset, you keep your Weapon Levels, Operators, Challenge Progress, Weapon Builds, and customizations.
For the first time, Prestiging will also reset your combat stats, including your K/D ratio, but you can still see your full career stats across all levels in the Combat Record menu. This gives players a chance to start fresh and see how they have improved after each Prestige.
Permanent Unlocks
Each time you Prestige, you’ll also gain a Permanent Unlock. You can use it to permanently unlock any loadout item you wish so that you can access it whenever you want, no matter what level or Prestige you are.
We recommend you choose wisely and go for something that you find essential to your gameplay, or something that’s unlocked at a high level so you don’t have to grind to unlock it each time you Prestige.
How many Prestiges are there in Black Ops 6?
There are 10 Prestiges in BO6 and all of them are available at launch, so you’ll no longer be slowed by seasonal level caps.
Thanks to synced progression in Black Ops 6, you can get through the classic Prestige system by playing either Multiplayer, Zombies, or Warzone from Season 1 onwards.
We don’t yet know the exact process of how you initiate Prestiging in Black Ops 6, but once we know how it’s done in-game we’ll be sure to update this section. What we do know is that it is a choice, and you don’t have to Prestige, but there are some rewards and benefits to incentivize you to do so.
Prestige rewards in Black Ops 6
Prestige-specific rewards include a new icon, Operator skins, Blueprints, and more. Each Prestige and its rewards are themed after a Black Ops/Treyarch Call of Duty title. For example, the first Prestige icon and rewards are themed after World at War, specifically the Zombies mode from that game.
Treyarch are calling it the “most rewarding Prestige system ever,” as Black Ops 6 players will have 10 Prestiges to get through that are all filled with rewards.
It’s important to note, however, that those who don’t own Black Ops 6 but are leveling up through Warzone will receive fewer rewards.
Is Prestige Master in Black Ops 6?
Prestige Master returns in Black Ops 6, as confirmed by the official blog, which even shows what the icon will look like for the rank.
You reach Prestige Master after completing Prestige 10. Once in, Prestige Master consists of 1,000 levels to get through, with a special reward waiting at the end for those who manage to make it.
The Prestige system isn’t the only Black Ops 6 mechanic that’s returning to tradition either, as round-based Zombies and three-lane Multiplayer maps are also back.
