The CoD Next broadcast gave fans an in-depth look at Black Ops 6 multiplayer, but it also surprisingly revealed details about Ranked Play

The upcoming beta is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to multiplayer, and fans of competitive Call of Duty will be pleased to discover what’s in store for Black Ops 6 Ranked Play. Here’s everything you need to know so far.

Will BO6 have Ranked Play at launch?

Black Ops 6 will not have a dedicated Ranked Play mode at launch. Just like with Modern Warfare 3, BO6 Ranked Play will arrive as a post-launch addition during a seasonal update.

The competitive mode is a favorite for fans of the Call of Duty League, but they’ll have to play public matches when the game arrives on October 25 to get accustomed to the new maps and weapons before Ranked Play arrives.

When will Black Ops 6 Ranked Play arrive?

Ranked Play is scheduled to arrive early in Black Ops Season 1, as revealed during the CoD Next broadcast. Here’s what the devs had to say about its arrival: “Ranked Play arrives at the earliest point ever in a Call of Duty title, only a few weeks after launch at the start of Season 1.”

At the moment there’s no telling when Season 1 will arrive, but we’ll likely find out closer to the game’s release date.

In comparison, MW3 launched on November 10 and Season 1 arrived nearly four weeks later on December 6. If we use the same timeframe, all signs point toward November 20 as the expected start date for BO6 Season 1, but nothing has been confirmed yet.

Ranked Play details

The devs have described Black Op 6 Ranked Play as a “definitive ranked experience,” and players can expect all the features they’ve come to enjoy from the mode over the years.

Exclusive rewards will be up for grabs every season, giving players incentive to climb the ranks after each seasonal reset.

As usual, the mode is expected to follow the rules and regulations of the Call of Duty League. This is likely one of the reasons why Ranked Play isn’t available at launch. CoD pros need time with the game to establish a meta and to confirm bans and restrictions.
