Black Ops 6 won’t feature hated Cold War Scorestreak system
ActivisionStreak-spam is very frustrating in Call of Duty multiplayer, but Black Ops 6 will prevent it by going back to a more traditional Scorestreak system.
During the official Call of Duty Podcast on July 15, 2024, Treyarch revealed BO6 details, including the highly anticipated beta dates. They also announced the move to a more “traditional scorestreak system,” where score will reset on death.
This is different from Black Ops Cold War where the score was retained even after respawning. Further, they also announced that Scorestreaks do not loop in the current build of BO6. These changes have been made to “reward players in a single life” and “avoid scorestreak spam.”
Players will only gain Scorestreaks by doing well in a single life, which the devs hope will reduce the amount seen at one time in a BO6 match. Scorestreak spam can be very frustrating if you’re on the other end of it, and it’s something that the devs said they don’t like in the podcast.
They also claimed that a lot of players don’t like it either, and with the comments under CharlieIntel’s X post regarding the Scorestreak news, it seems they’re right.
Fans chimed in with their opinions, as one said, “not gonna lie streak spamming is annoying, I’m glad this isn’t going to be a thing in Black Ops 6.” Another agreed, “I actually like this. Too many killstreaks in the air is annoying. Almost feels like no gun skill is involved at times.”
Many other commenters said they “love” this change, as some believe that the traditional per-life Scorestreak system is “more rewarding.” However, some oppose the change, and feel that Scorestreaks not looping is “boring” and is only “punishing good players.”
Players can get a taste of the loadout and traditional Scorestreak system once the beta arrives, which you can get early access to by pre-ordering. During the beta, we’ll also get to experience the exciting new Omnidirectional movement, which the devs also announced can not be toggled on or off.
