Zombies can be daunting for new players who aren’t familiar with how the mode works, but Black Ops 6 is adding a new Guided option to help newcomers find their footing.

Black Ops 6 is bringing back the traditional round-based format, but that doesn’t mean it’s going to be as basic as the early days of Zombies. As always, there will be plenty of secrets to uncover and even a storyline to work through while you try to survive.

In the past, players have been left to figure out the steps of the main quest for themselves, which is part of the appeal for many but can leave others wondering what to do.

Now, Treyarch have confirmed that BO6 Zombies will have two different options to choose from – Standard or Guided.

Standard is the more traditional experience, where rounds progress as soon as the last Zombie is defeated and you’re also given hints up until your first Pack-a-Punch.

This is the ideal setting for veterans of the series or those who like to discover things for themselves, and anyone who completes the main quest before Guided is released on a map will earn an exclusive Calling Card for doing so.

Meanwhile, Guided offers step-by-step instructions on how to complete the main questline from start to finish. These will be visible at all times, so you’ll always know what the next objective is.

It also disables any side missions, allowing you to focus on the task at hand without being pulled away into optional objectives.

On top of all that, Guided makes life easier by capping rounds at certain stages until you complete your objective. This means that the rounds won’t move on until you’re ready to tackle the next step.

So, instead of having to deal with enemies that are ever-increasing in strength, Guided ensures that the difficulty ramps up based on how you’re doing. All of this should make getting through the main storyline of Black Ops 6 Zombies much smoother, especially if you’re new to the mode.

However, this feature won’t be available on day one as Treyarch have announced that it will come post-launch for each map, as they want to “protect the sanctity of the ‘traditional Easter Egg hunt'” and encourage the community to work together to solve the puzzles.

The devs have also unveiled plenty of other details about Black Ops 6 Zombies, from the new Terminus map to the addition of a third-person mode.
