Everything we know about Black Ops 6 Liberty Falls Zombies map
ActivisionLiberty Falls will be a round-based launch map for Black Ops 6 Zombies, and while the devs haven’t revealed every detail just yet, there’s some official information and teasers to dive into.
After the huge Terminus reveal on August 8, the devs also shared some details about Liberty Falls, including a cinematic trailer that revealed more about how it fits in with the Dark Aether storyline, as well as teasing the return of a classic Wonder Weapon.
Black Ops 6 Zombies Liberty Falls map setting & size
Liberty Falls is set in a West Virginian town during the day. The town has been overrun by a zombie outbreak. The round-based map will feature a Video Store, Motel, Gas Station, Bowling Alley, Comic Shop, and Church. It’s said to be smaller in comparison to the massive Terminus map.
While it may be a simpler map, players can still expect many secrets to uncover, and it will also feature the Dark Aether dimension, extending its size and complexity.
Liberty Falls cinematic trailer & story explained
Samantha Maxis has been corrupted by the Dark Aether after she heroically trapped herself and The Forsaken in the containment chamber at the end of Black Ops Cold War. Now, a corrupted version of her has broken free from the chamber held in Liberty Falls, setting off an outbreak in the process.
In the cinematic trailer, Richtofen wakes up in Liberty Falls after a nightmare that reminds him of his wife and son’s death, in which both Weaver and Sam played a part. He’s then informed of the outbreak and begins to take action, fighting zombies with the Wunderwaffe DG2, suggesting it will make a return.
Richtofen is taken by a purple mist, but before he disappears, he tells Sam that she will never be free. However, the camera pans to the containment chamber that Samantha Maxis trapped The Forsaken in and we hear her reply, “But Edward, I already am,” as the chamber begins to break free.
Liberty Falls Wonder Weapons in Black Ops 6 Zombies
Both the Wunderwaffe DG2 and Jet Gun have been teased for Liberty Falls.
In the short teaser we saw for Liberty Falls at the end of the Terminus gameplay trailer, the Jet Gun was spotted, suggesting that it will be one of the map’s Wonder Weapons. The Jet Gun is the Wonder Weapon for Black Ops 2’s TranZit map, and this will be the first time it has returned since 2012.
This Wonder Weapon is also known as the Thrustodyne Aeronautics Model 23, and it obliterates enemies by sucking them into its rotors.
You had to craft the Jet Gun back in TranZit, and it didn’t take up a weapon slot. Instead, it was stored as a Buildable, just like the Zombie Shield. We don’t yet know if this will be the case for Liberty Falls in Black Ops 6 Zombies, but once we know how you get the Jet Gun in Liberty Falls we’ll be sure to let you know.
We then saw the Wunderwaffe DG2 in the cinematic trailer, where Richtofen uses it to fight off zombies.
Liberty Falls crew
This map will have a different set of characters to Terminus, whose team is said to be an “elite unit” sent to investigate the Dark Aether outbreak in West Virginia. Whether this elite unit refers to a specific crew of characters or the selection of Operators players pick remains to be seen.
Will Liberty Falls have an Easter egg?
Yes, the devs have confirmed that Liberty Falls will have its own Main Quest. It will revolve around Samantha Maxis’ breakout from the Dark Aether, which caused the outbreak, as well as Richtofen’s Project Janus plans and disappearance after being taken by a purple mist in the cinematic trailer.
Is Liberty Falls a TranZit Town remake?
We don’t yet know enough about the map to give a concrete answer, but we expect the map to share similar themes to Town from TranZit Zombies in Black Ops 2. This could occur in the same way that Terminus draws parallels with Mob of the Dead without being a remake.
We know that Liberty Falls will share the same Wonder Weapon as TranZit in the Jet Gun, but we don’t yet know whether the buildings or layout will be the same or similar.
Some players have speculated that the Church in Liberty Falls could be the same as the one in Black Ops 2’s Buried map, but nothing has been confirmed so take it with a pinch of salt.
How to watch Liberty Falls reveal
You can watch the Liberty Falls reveal by tuning into the Call of Duty Next event on August 28, which will be live-streamed on the official CoD YouTube and Twitch channels.
The devs will be revealing more about Zombies, as well as multiplayer and the hotly anticipated integration of Warzone, which is set to bring some major gameplay changes.
