The BAL-27 is a fan-favorite Assault Rifle in the Call of Duty franchise but since arriving back in Warzone’s Season 3 Reloaded update it’s failed to truly impress. However, the gun saw some buffs in Season 5 that have propelled it into the meta.

The AR received a healthy increase to its max damage range, raising it from 21.59 to 26.67 meters, as well as some tweaks to its recoil to make the weapon more effective for long range and its recoil pattern more predictable.

This makes the BAL-27 easier to use than it was previously, as it’s now more than just a close-to-medium range Sniper Support. Its recoil is a lot easier to handle during sustained fire and it can now be controlled at range, competing with other top options such as the MTZ-556, MCW, and BP50.

These recoil and damage range changes are specifically important to the BAL-27 due to the gun’s unique fire rate, which speeds up the longer you hold down the trigger.

The fact that you can now control the weapon better at a distance means its TTK is now faster than ever, as it’s easier to stay on target when the fire rate is at its peak.

It’s no longer an underwhelming AR, as WhosImmortal broke down the TTK stats for the weapon in his August 11 YouTube video, in which he described the BAL-27 as a meta pick.

Using TrueGameData, the popular YouTuber discovered that the BAL-27 now has an “extremely competitive TTK across the board,” but it’s especially great over distance, as that’s when you can ramp up the fire rate with sustained shots.

It’s less impressive at closer ranges where you don’t get to open up its fire rate, so we recommend running a strong SMG like the Static-HV or AMR9 to deal with close-quarters combat.
