Buffed Warzone SMG with “phenomenal” TTK is perfect sniper support
ActivisionOne-shot snipers are extremely powerful in Warzone, but finding the perfect weapon to pair them with isn’t always easy. Luckily, an SMG that was handed a healthy buff outguns the competition to become the meta sniper support.
Back in the Season 5 Reloaded update, the Static-HV was given a major nerf that left a huge gap in the close-range meta. This left many players wondering what to run alongside their Sniper Rifles.
If you’re one of these players, the Striker could be the answer to all your problems. The SMG, better known as the UMP45 from MW2, got a substantial buff in the mid-season patch, and its numbers now dwarf the other guns in its class.
Warzone expert WhoImmortal broke down the TTKs of all the best SMGs in an upload to his YouTube channel, and the Striker was head and shoulders above the rest.
Following the buff to its damage ranges, he found that the UMP was superior to the FJX Horus, WSP-9, and Superi 46 once you cross the 20-meter mark, which is a crucial range for sniper support weapon.
The closest rival was the nerfed Static-HV, but even that couldn’t compete with the “phenomenal” 900ms TTK the Striker was registering at 30 meters.
After testing the Striker for myself using our best loadout, I found it to be an absolute beast at mid-range, as it often let me go toe-to-toe with Assault Rifles in situations where a Sniper Rifle just isn’t viable.
It also performs very well at close range. While it doesn’t have the rapid fire rate or blistering TTK of other SMGs between zero and 10 meters, it can more than hold its own and I rarely felt like I was at a disadvantage.
If you’re running a sniper instead of an Assault Rifle or LMG, then you need to pair it with something that’s versatile, and the Striker ticks all the right boxes in that regard.
When it comes to the sniper itself, WhosImmortal recommended the Kar98k which has remained strong ever since it returned to Warzone, but you could go for other one-shot options like the KATT-AMR or MORS.
