Call of Duty 2023 set to be “near future” boots on the ground game claims renowned leaker
Even with a brand new Call of Duty just months away, rumors about the series’ future are still flying around. One known leaker claims to have details on the CoD that isn’t due until 2023.
Call of Duty: Vanguard is just around the corner, but that hasn’t stopped talk about the future of the CoD series from circulating online. 2022’s game has already reportedly been revealed as a sequel to Modern Warfare, according to a VGC report.
Now, it seems that even more long-term details have emerged. A renowned leaker has claimed to have information about what the Call of Duty due for release in 2023 will look like.
Responding to a post on the Charlie INTEL Twitter page regarding the alledged leaked sequel to Modern Warfare coming in 2022, leaker Tom Henderson responded with our first real slither of information about what’s coming the following year.
He claimed that the Treyarch-developed game will be “boots on the ground,” and take place in a “semi-futuristic” setting.
The leaker didn’t offer any more details as to whether the game will be a continuation of the Black Ops sub-series, the best-selling in CoD history, or the beginning of something new.
The Black Ops games have historically gone for futuristic settings, with Black Ops III featuring the jetpacks that were a series staple for some years. However, this leak suggests that the 2023 game will be more grounded.
While it’s still some way away, CoD works on a rotating development schedule between Treyarch, Infinity Ward, Raven Software, and Sledgehammer Games.
This means that despite the yearly release of Call of Duty games, Treyarch likely began work on the 2023 installment sometime after Black Ops 4 shipped in 2018. This is how details can leak seemingly so far in advance.
There is no evidence at the moment confirming whether or not this leak is true or not, and we’re unlikely to get any confirmation until the year of release.
