Call of Duty confirm classic Verdansk map returns to Warzone
ActivisionA surprise Warzone announcement at CoD Next revealed that Verdansk will be returning in Spring 2025. While the reveal may come as a shock to some who were expecting Area 99 to be the focus of the broadcast, those who kept up with leaks and rumors will know that its return has been teased for months.
Verdansk is arguably the most popular Warzone map ever created and it’s often credited for the immense success of the Call of Duty Battle Royale when it debuted in 2020.
Since then, players have received Caldera, Al Mazrah, and Urzikstan as large-scale Warzone maps, but none have been as well-liked as Verdansk. With every new CoD title fans have called for Verdansk’s return, and their calls will finally be answered in 2025.
CoD Next previewed new details about the upcoming era of Warzone like an overhaul to Perks, changes to the looting system, and Mastery Camos. Before the Warzone segment came to an end, it was revealed that Verdansk was slated for a Spring 2025 release.
Aside from a release window, there’s currently very little information about what to expect from this updated version of Verdansk.
This means that Verdansk’s return will be part of the Black Ops 6 game cycle. This explains why a new big map isn’t coming to Warzone when BO6 Season 1 arrives. Players will receive the new Resurgence map Area 99 at launch instead before Verdansk arrives in the Spring.
While a release month or date was not revealed, Spring 2025 is likely going to line up with Black Ops 6 Season 3 or Season 4. Once we know more about Verdansk’s return date, we’ll be sure to let you know.
Before the iconic map arrives, you’ll have the chance to keep busy with Warzone Battle Royale Ranked Play on Urzikstan shortly after Black Ops 6 Season 1.
