CoD players slam “useless” BlackCell Battle Pass smoke grenade skins
ActivisionCall of Duty unveiled the details of its premium BlackCell Battle Pass for MW2 and Warzone’s Season 6, which introduces the first-ever skin for smoke grenades. In response, CoD players slammed Activision’s decision, labeling the addition as “useless.”
Season 6 of Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 is almost here, bringing a wealth of new content for both multiplayer and battle royale. Fresh weaponry like the ISO 9mm SMG and TR-76 Heist AR, new licensed Operators, the return of the Halloween-themed The Haunting event, and more are on the way.
Moreover, this new update will also deliver the latest version of the premium Battle Pass BlackCell with spooky futuristic-themed content, which will include the first-ever smoke grenade skin. However, this didn’t resonate well with Call of Duty players as they reacted to the announcement.
MW2 & Warzone fans mock “lame” BlackCell smoke grenade skins
Following Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2’s Season 6 BlackCell Battle Pass reveal, players noticed a new item that led them to slam the “lame” decision to include skins for smoke grenades.
Below CharlieIntel’s X (formerly Twitter) post sharing the news, players swiftly dubbed this addition as “useless,” while others sarcastically chimed in with comments like “True innovation” as they poked fun at the inclusion of smoke grenade skins.
Additionally, other players expressed their frustration, saying, “I’m done buying cod battlepasses. They fill them with so many random filler items that no one cares for or even sees.”
However, many players have noted that this practice is common in the mobile version of the franchise, Call of Duty: Mobile, where such items have been present since its launch four years ago.
“This game is becoming more like cod mobile and not in a good way,” one user expressed, in response to various comments pointing out the similarities in Season 6’s BlackCell content. Another player added: “Nothing new. Cod Mobile has literally put skins on everything in that game… every gun, equipment, vehicle, etc.”
While reactions have been notably negative, the BlackCell Battle Pass has proven to be a more than profitable addition for Activision, standing out amongst the best-selling items on Steam in previous seasons.
