Fan-favorite Warzone SMG meta again after Superi 46 destroyed by nerfs

Sinc being introduced, Warzone‘s most popular SMG has been the Superi 46, but it took some hefty nerfs in the July 30 update that reduced its max and mid damage range. This has left a gap at the top of the SMG meta, giving an iconic MW2 gun a chance to prove its worth.

The VEL 46, also known as the MP7, has been out of favor for some time, but it looks to be returning to the meta after nerfs to the top dog.

It offers a fast fire rate, easy-to-control recoil, and competitive damage range, making it the perfect replacement for the Superi. It even received buffs to its damage and multipliers in the Season 5 update, making it a serious competitor.

Using TrueGameData, when compared to the Superi, the VEL 46’s TTK numbers are extremely similar, besting its rival at the 20-meter mark and then again from 42 meters onwards.

When using the VEL 46 in Warzone, I found it to be exceptional at close to mid-range distances, which is exactly what you want for a replacement. The iconic MP7 also has a larger base magazine size of 40 rounds, a faster fire rate, and faster ADS speed, cementing it as the new go-to SMG in Warzone. 

The Superi 46’s main appeal was its strafe, movement speeds, and damage range. Luckily, the MP7 offers much of the same, with similar stats around mobility and handling.

Even popular YouTuber FaZe Swagg has highlighted the VEL 46 in his July 31 video, as he compared the two weapons after the balance changes.

The streamer called the Superi “dog sh*t,” while dropping a 22-kill victory with the VEL. Swagg heavily recommended using the Quartermaster Suppressor, which makes it even better for medium-ranged fights.

He also paired the SMG with the STG44, which covers those longer-ranged battles. This makes for a great combination that allows you to dominate every range in the game.

The MP7 is especially great for the smaller Resurgence maps, so it’s worth giving a span if you have it maxed out and are looking for a new SMG to dominate Rebirth Island or Superstore.
