How to complete the Black Ops 6 Zombies Citadelle des Morts main story Easter egg
Charlie Intel/ ActivisionThe Citadelle des Morts Black Ops 6 Zombies map features a new main quest Easter egg that is well worth checking out, but in typical Zombies fashion, you’ll need to complete a list of specific tasks first.
Players who’ve uncovered the secrets in the Terminus and Liberty Falls maps will know exactly how much time and effort these Easter egg hunts can take, and Citadelle des Morts is no different. It involves collecting and upgrading swords, completing puzzles, and defeating a challenging boss to get to the finish line.
Here are the steps to complete the Citedella des Morts Black Ops 6 Zombies Easter egg.
Activate the Pack-A-Punch Machine
The first step is fairly straightforward, just follow the objective markers which will lead you to the Pack-A-Punch machine. You’ll have to eliminate a Doppleghast and insert an Aetherium Crystal into a portal before the machine appears.
Speak to Krafft in the Quick Revive room
For the next step, use the map and head towards the Quick Revive room located in the Dungeon area. You’ll be able to interact with a wooden cell door in the room to trigger a scene with Gabriel Krafft.
Get the Bastard Swords
You’ll have to reach round 10 for this objective, following which you’ll start to see zombies wearing helmets running in your direction. These zombies drop orange-colored stamp items upon being killed. Pick up a stamp, head to the Dining Room, and interact with any of the four knight statues to grab one of the Bastard Swords.
Upgrade all the swords
All four swords need to be upgraded and you can only carry one at a time. There’s a different method for upgrading each sword, and the entire process can take up a chunk of your time. Here’s how to acquire all four Wonder Weapon swords:
- Caliburn – Collect the sword from the knight with a dragon on its chest and then interact with the dragon statue. You’ll now have to find three cauldrons on the map and bring their fires back to the dragon statue.
- Solais – Get the sword from the knight with a lion on its chest. Now, head towards the lion statue in the Dining Room and melee a glowing parasite to charge the sword. With the charged sword in hand, go to the Speed Cola Perk-a-Cola area and use it on the door with a lion symbol. Repeat the process three times to get the Wonder Weapon.
- Durendal – Acquire three lightning rods and then place them in a vase near the Castle Entrance cannon. With the non-upgraded sword in hand, interact with the vase and survive the storm until it gets charged. Now, melee the vase and repeat this process for a total of three times. Finally, you’ll be able to place the sword inside the vase to get the Wonder Weapon.
- Balmung – Head to the Alchemy Room to pick up Balmung and the sword. From there, go back to the Tavern and head downstairs to place the sword in a hole. Complete the symbol puzzle, which will open up three portals. Find all three portals and then return to the sword to acquire the Wonder Weapon.
Complete the Undercroft Wall Puzzle
After upgrading all the swords, head to the Undercroft area to find a brick wall that can broken using the Melee Macchiato perk. You’ll now see a bunch of blue symbols appear on the wall. For the next step, head to the tavern where you originally spawned and look for six vases with Roman numerals on them. Each vase depicts one of the blue symbols right underneath the Roman numeral.
Keep the symbols in mind and return to the broken wall. Now, you’ll have to fire at the symbols counting from one to six to unlock a secret book right beside the wall.
Collect all Incantations
There are a total of four different Incantations, each belonging to different swords and elements. To collect them, you’ll have to pick up ritual items and use the corresponding Wonder Weapons. Here’s how you can get all of them:
- Balmung Incantation – Head towards the slide near the Pack-a-Punch Machine and while riding it, shoot the raven on the right. Once you’re out of the slide, shoot the raven again to get the Raven’s Talon item. Now, head to the Undercroft and step into the glowing yellow circle. This will start a ritual that ends after you kill all the zombies in the area. A box will pop up once it is over, melee it with the Balmung Wonder Weapon to get the Incantation.
- Durendal Incantation – Head to the stone bar near the Town Square and shoot down the Horseshoe kept above the door. Pick up the item and go to the cannon in the Citadelle Courtyard. Use it to fire yourself into the Town Square and pick up the Pegasus’ Horseshoe item located in Village Ascent. Now, head back to the Town Square to find another ritual circle. Complete it and melee the box using Durendal to get the Incantation.
- Solais Incantation – Shoot the crystal above the vulture-Aid Perk-a-Cola in the Dining Room. Do this until its light hits another crystal. Keep firing until the light finds its way to the Alchemy Room. Head to the room to find the Paladin’s Brooch item. Now, move back to the Dining Room and complete the yellow circle ritual to get the Incantation.
- Caliburn Incantation – To get this Incantation, you’ll need to light three cauldrons on fire using the Wonder Weapon’s special attack or a Molotov. All three cauldrons are located outside the castle, and igniting them will spawn a Doppelghast enemy. Eliminate it to get the Ra’s Ankh item. Now, head back to the Citadelle Courtyard to find the yellow circle. Finish the ritual, melee the box using Caliburn, and you’ll receive the last Incantation.
Collect the missing book pages
To find the missing book pages, head back to the main castle entrance, take the stairs on the left, and move towards the Sitting Rooms area. All the missing pages are located here and have glowing red symbols on them. Places where they’re likely to spawn include the TV, the couch, the fireplace, and near the boxes. After gathering the missing pages, return them to the book for the next step.
Complete the Undercroft Book Puzzle
To complete the book puzzle, memorize the four symbols on display. You’ll need to match the symbols to the Point of Power traps scattered around the map. The order in which you need to match the symbols is – top left, bottom left, top right, and bottom right. Activate the correct traps and eliminate all zombies caught within it until you get a piece of dialogue from Krafft.
Use Incantations in front of knights
For this step, head past the chemical lab and you’ll be able to spot four symbols on the wall. These symbols correspond to different sword elements and spell out the order in which you need to use the sword Incantations in front of the knights in the Dining Room. Follow the order and inspect the sword in front of the right knight until you obtain a Mystic Orb.
Complete Elemental Challenges
The Elemental Challenges will require you to carry the Mystic Orb to four different parts of the map. The locations are identical to where you found the Incantations. After reaching one of the locations, place the orb in a holder and wait for it to charge while fending off a horde of zombies. Here are the locations for each challenge:
- Fire: Located outside the castle, on the wall near the red floor trap.
- Lightning: Turn left from the spawn area and the ord holder will be near the first gate.
- Dark: In the middle of the wall in the flooded basement area.
- Light: Head up the stairs from the golden circle to find the holder on the wall.
For the Lion challenge located in the Dining Room, you’ll need to stand in the green orbs that appear in the hall until the Mystic Orb charges up. As for the rest, keep an eye on the orb after placing it as it’ll display a specific element. Use the sword that corresponds to that element and kill zombies to fill up the orb.
After completing all the challenges, take the Mystic Orb back to the mural and place it to collect the Guardian Key.
Guardian Boss Fight
Collect the key and head back to spawn. Once you’re there, interact with the fountain to kick off the final boss fight. You’ll find yourself in a tight circular arena facing off against a hulking enemy named the Guardian. The boss has three phases and can dish out a ton of damage. Concentrate your fire on the glowing parts of his body and keep moving to dodge its attacks.
If you find yourself out of ammo or armor plates, mow down some of the fodder enemies in the arena to refill your resources.
