How to complete the Black Ops 6 Zombies The Tomb main story Easter egg
ActivisionA new Black Ops 6 Zombies map means a new Easter egg to hunt down, so here’s how to complete The Tomb’s main story Easter egg.
Following up on Citadelle des Morts, Treyarch have released the second post-launch Zombies map for B06 called The Tomb. Set in an ancient burial site, the map is similar in scope to Liberty Falls and features a relatively straightforward main story Easter egg. This doesn’t mean that it’s easy to complete by any means as you’ll still have to collect secret items, complete elaborate puzzles, and take on a grueling boss near the end.
If you’re looking for a bit of guidance, here’s how to complete the main story Easter egg on The Tomb.
Open the Door to Nowhere
For the first step, you’ll need to unlock the Door to Nowhere which is a portal to the Dark Aether Nexus. Unlocking it should be easy enough as you’ll have objective markers guiding you through the process but it basically involves accessing a series of doors using Essence. Eventually, you’ll find yourself in a small room with a pedestal sitting in the center. Interact with it to open the portal.
Craft the Ice Staff
The Ice Staff is the new Wonder Weapon released alongside the map. To get it, you’ll need to collect all of its parts individually before putting them together at an altar in the Dark Aether Nexus. Check out our guide on how to get the Ice Staff for a detailed breakdown.
Upgrade the Ice Staff
Follow these steps to upgrade the staff:
- After crafting the staff, head back to the Tombs area and freeze all three Dark Aether Lanterns using it. The first Lantern is in front of the bull mural, the second can be found in the Shrine of the Hierophants, and the last Lantern sits near the entrance to the Subterranean Temple. Make sure to freeze all three Lanterns in quick succession. Doing so will trigger a bit of dialogue from Sir Archibald.
- Now, head back to the Dark Aether Nexus and look up at the sky to spot floating rocks. Shoot down three rocks with symbols on them using the Ice Staff. Once they’re lowered, make note of the symbols on them.
- One of the Dark Aether portals will now be closed off. Exit the area using a different portal and go to the location of the closed portal in the Dig Site. Here, you’ll find a wall with a bunch of symbols on it.
- Shoot the three symbols that you saw on the floating rocks to open the portal once again.
- Head inside this portal and interact with the purple ball sitting on the other end. This will trigger an escort mission where you’ll have to follow the ball closely as it moves around the map, all while killing zombies to charge it up.
- Once it’s done charging, the ball will fly toward the altar in the Dark Aether Nexus. Interact with it once again to upgrade the Ice Staff.
Complete the Vermin, Doppleghast, Parasite, and Amalgam statue challenges
- After upgrading the Ice Staff, follow the small path just to the right of the altar and you’ll find a small Vermin statue attached to a blue crystal. Shoot it using the staff’s alt-fire which will cause the statue to start glowing.
- Now, hold the interact button to grab the statue’s energy and head back to the spawn area using a portal. Once there, you’ll find a glowing Vermin statue. Deposit the energy here by holding the interact button which will trigger a lockdown event.
- Survive the lockdown event and interact with the statue to collect its energy once again. You’ll now have to hightail it back to the Vermin statue in the Dark Aether Nexus as taking too much damage will result in you losing the energy and having to repeat the whole process again.
- Deposit the energy in the first statue to complete the Vermin statue challenge.
- To complete the Parasite, Doppleghast, and Amalgam statue challenges, you’ll have to follow all these steps again. Just like the Vermin statue, the other two are located near the central altar as well.
Defeat the final boss
Depositing energies into all four statues will cause them to shoot purple beams of light toward a stone structure in the Dark Aether Nexus. Go towards it and interact with the wall to open up a bridge to the final boss fight. Without giving away any major spoilers, you’ll be dealing with a multi-phase encounter and the boss will be invincible for a while before going into a damage phase.
You’ll have to chisel away at its health bar slowly and it may take a few attempts before it finally goes down. To help make things slightly easier, bring along Pack-a-Punch Tier 3 and gold rarity weapons, alongside the Shields Up and Perkaholic GobbleGums. Also keep in mind that Wonder Weapons do no damage to the boss, although the Ice Staff can be useful for clearing zombie hordes in the arena.
