How to mute players in Modern Warfare 3 beta

When jumping into Modern Warfare 3 beta matches, your teammates may not always provide the most helpful communication via voice chat. If you’re looking to block out voices during matches, here’s how to mute players in Modern Warfare 3.

Weekend two of the Modern Warfare 3 beta brings the fan-favorite Highrise map alongside the Search and Destroy game mode for players to explore. As you dive back in to discover what the new CoD title has to offer before its November 10 release, you may not always find yourself playing with friends.

In the event that you’re looking to block out all exterior noise in your lobbies and matches, the mute feature is a key component to keep in mind.

Here’s how to mute players in the Modern Warfare 3 beta.

Modern Warfare 3: How to mute & unmute players

Thanks to the variety of audio settings in Modern Warfare 3, muting players is easy if you follow these simple steps:

1. Head to the Settings menu
2. Select the Audio tab
3. Head to the Voice Chat portion
4. Under the first tab titled Voice Chat, you can turn Voice Chat on and off, effectively muting all communication to and from players
5. The tab below Voice Chat, titled Game Voice Channel features more control over which players are muted:
   • Party Only: Mutes every player in a match, except for those in your party
   • Friend Only: Mutes all players in a match, except for those on your friends list
   • Friends & Channels: Mutes every player in a match, except for players from your friend list and players from all your channels.

Utilizing the audio settings menu in MW3 can allow you to permanently mute all players as you go from lobby to lobby and enter one match after another. However, there is a different method you can use to have additional control over the players you’re looking to mute.

To mute specific players in an MW3 match follow these steps:

1. Access the scoreboard during a match
2. Use your mouse or controller to select the player you want to mute
   • or select the mute all players option at the bottom of the scoreboard to access a menu to mute all of the players in the lobby
3. Hit toggle mute: X or A on controller and right-click on PC
