Black Ops 6 is fluid and fast-paced, mainly thanks to omnimovement. Sliding returns too, and you can cancel it to continue your momentum if you know how to do so.

Slide canceling became a popular movement technique when Modern Warfare 2019 and the original Warzone first landed. It then returned after a hiatus in MW3, and Treyarch have decided to allow players to perform the action in BO6’s beta.

Here’s how to slide cancel in Black Ops 6, and how it works in comparison to previous CoDs.

Can you slide cancel in Black Ops 6?

Yes, you can cancel your slide by pressing sprint, crouch, or jump during the middle of the slide animation. There’s no complex method, and players across all platforms can perform it in the same fashion.

Black Ops 6’s slide cancel is not as quick as MW3’s, as there’s a longer delay before you can cancel and sprint out of it. However, it’s still an effective way to cancel the animation so you can perform another action sooner.

Should you slide cancel in Black Ops 6?

Yes, slide canceling is a movement technique you should get familiar with as it makes your movement more fluid and allows you to be more dynamic. While sometimes you may want to go through with the full slide for extra distance and to stay in crouch, canceling gives you more freedom to do other actions faster after a slide.

It also makes you harder to hit, as the change in height and direction after a slide cancel can help throw the enemy’s aim off.

In Black Ops 6, you can slide in all directions too, so make use of canceling the animation no matter which way you’re moving. I like to slide cancel around corners and just before engaging with an enemy, as it lets me get to the position I want faster and makes it harder for them to track me.

You can also sprint, jump, and then go straight into a slide cancel, which makes your movement even more unpredictable. I recommend experimenting with slide canceling to get comfortable with the mechanic and see what combinations you can come up with.

To better you’re movement even further, make sure you have the best mouse and keyboard or controller settings for BO6 depending on what input you use.
