How to unlock EMP Grenade in MW3

There’s a new Tactical Equipment in Modern Warfare 3 Season 5 called the EMP Grenade, which players will need to unlock before being able to select it for their loadout.

It’s a Tactical that’s been seen in previous CoD games, and it’s perfect for disrupting enemy Killstreaks, Field Upgrades, and more.

Here’s how you can unlock the EMP Grenade in MW3.

How to get EMP Grenade in Modern Warfare 3

You’ll need to complete three Daily Challenges or get wins to unlock the EMP Grenade in MW3. The new Tactical Equipment is an Armory Unlock, so you’ll need to activate it first to progress through the three challenges or wins.

It shouldn’t take you long at all to complete three challenges, which could require you to get a certain amount of kills with a particular weapon type, get headshots, or get kills with a certain Lethal Equipment. If you have no Daily Challenges left, you can get wins in any game mode to progress.

EMP Grenade explained

It’s a Tactical Equipment item item that players can throw. It’s area of effect will disrupt enemy sensors and deactivate electronics, making it a useful piece of Equipment in objective-based game modes. The EMP even disorientates enemies by glitching the HUDs of enemy Operators hit with its blast.

The CoD Blog recommends using the EMP as a breaching tool. You can chuck it on enemies when they have Field Upgrades and Killstreaks like the Trophy System or Wheelson on the map, as it will effectively disrupt them and give you time to pounce.

It’s not available in Warzone, although it would be less effective in battle royale, especially since there are other, more impactful choices in the Tactical Equipment category such as Smokes.

The EMP wasn’t the only new addition to the Armory Unlock, as players can also get the Quartermaster Suppressor Muzzle, which works especially well on the iconic STG44 AR in Modern Warfare 3.
