Is Black Ops 4 cross-platform? Current cross-play status
Sometimes you’ll want to join your friends on different platforms when playing Black Ops 4, so here’s everything you need to know about the game’s cross-play status.
One of the most fun things about playing a Call of Duty game is hopping into the online multiplayer with your friends. You and your buddies can then cause as much mayhem as you want.
Sometimes your friends will be playing on different platforms or systems than you, and that’s where cross-play comes in. This guide will cover everything you need to know about Black Ops 4’s cross-platform capabilities.
Call Of Duty: Black Ops 4 is available to play on the PlayStation, Xbox, and PC, but the game doesn’t have cross-platform multiplayer. This means that you’ll only get to play with other friends on the same platform.
So, if you’re an Xbox user, then you can only join and invite other Xbox users. The same rule applies to the PlayStation and PC. Currently, it doesn’t seem like the developers have any plans to introduce cross-play to Black Ops 4.
However, there are other Call of Duty games that do support cross-platform multiplayer, such as Modern Warfare, Warzone, and Black Ops Cold War. So, you and your friends on different platforms do have alternative options.
Cross-platform multiplayer has its fair share of criticisms, as players on PC tend to have greater precision in their aim when using a mouse and keyboard than console players do with a controller.
This is why the option to turn off cross-play is in both Black Ops Cold War and Warzone. That said, it’s still a ton of fun to play with your friends on other systems, and hopefully, Black Ops 4 will implement that system someday.
