Modern Warfare 3 devs confirm six new post-launch maps in Seasons 1 & 2
ActivisionSledgehammer Games officially confirmed that Modern Warfare 3 will receive a total of six new post-launch maps throughout Season 1 and Season 2, along with the 16 previously revealed MW2 2009 multiplayer maps remastered at launch.
With the launch of Modern Warfare 3 approaching, players are eager to learn about all the content that will come to the game both at its launch on November 10, and after that with additional seasonal content.
Luckily, the team at Sledgehammer Games announced a variety of details about Modern Warfare 3, including the return of several fan-favorite features, the addition of a Zombies mode for the first time in MW, movement changes, and plenty of information about the maps in MW3.
Six new 6v6 maps confirmed to arrive in MW3 Season 1 & 2
On September 13, a new Call of Duty Intel Drop confirmed that Modern Warfare 3 will feature six new post-launch maps that will be introduced during Season 1 and Season 2. Three new 6v6 maps are expected in MW3 Season 1, while another three new 6v6 maps should arrive in Season 2.
This aligns with an earlier announcement, confirming that MW3 will include at least 12 new 6v6 maps following its initial launch, giving players an estimated total of 28 6v6 maps.
In addition, Sledgehammer Games have revealed a first look at all 16 original MW2 2009 multiplayer maps which will be arriving at launch of Modern Warfare 3. These modernized versions have “received touches that both improve gameplay and enhance scenic detail and visibility.”
The studio designers also shared that given “technological advancements in Call of Duty’s animation and movement techniques over the past 14 years,” players will be able to perform a variety of new movements “giving more confidence during these frenetic, close-quarters engagements.”
All in all, that’s everything we know about the six post-launch 6v6 multiplayer maps that will be arriving throughout Season 1 and Season 2 of Modern Warfare 3.
