Modern Warfare 3 player reveals Care Package’s “horrible” odds after opening 1,000 drops

The Care Package is a classic Call of Duty Killstreak that you can use in Modern Warfare 3, but after some lengthy analysis, a player has revealed the drop rates and it doesn’t look great.

After using the Care Package 1,000 times in MW3, Reddit user ‘Alex_Nares’ shared the results on the subreddit for the game. They detailed the number of times they got every Killstreak from the Care Package in a table, alongside the odds and percentage chance.

The results showed that the SAM Turret had the highest drop rate, with 1 in 9 odds and a 10.60% chance. In contrast, it showed higher value Killstreaks with much lower odds, as both the Chopper Gunner and Gunship had a drop rate of just 0.80%.

In response to the breakdown, one comment said, “aka they’re not even worth using,” to which the OP replied, “Probably.”

They explained that the average value of a Killstreak you’ll get from a Care Package is six kills. Since it takes five kills to get the package in the first place, you should get a one-kill profit on average. However, there’s always the chance that it is stolen by an enemy or even your teammate, which means it loses its value.

When you take this into account, the Care Package’s value drops below that six-kill average. This makes it even less advantageous compared to just picking a Killstreak that requires more kills.

The analysis led some to believe that “the Care Package needs a small buff to the drop rates,” as they feel the Juggernaut’s two in 1000 odds is an “abysmally horrible rate.”

Some even miss the re-roll feature that has been seen in previous Call of Duty titles: “Shame that there is no Perk to shuffle the Streak once.” The OP agreed, and went on to explain that the re-roll feature in previous games drew from a different table with “better odds.”

Season 5 is set to introduce a bunch of new content and changes, but it’s highly unlikely that we’ll see the Care Package tweaked. That said, with Black Ops 6 on the horizon, Care Package users will be hoping to see some better odds.
