Modern Warfare 3 players desperate for major weapon balancing changes at launch

Modern Warfare 3’s beta has been adored by the community thanks to its major changes to TTK, movement, and more. However, players feel the weapons will need major balance tweaks ahead of launch.

One of the major complaints around 2022’s Modern Warfare 2 was its time to kill, or TTK, where the weapons would kill extremely fast, not giving players much time to react to being shot. Warzone increased player health to 150 to combat this in the battle royale, and now Modern Warfare 3 has followed suit in multiplayer.

Players have loved this change but feel that weapon balancing will need some major tweaks ahead of the full launch, with some weapon categories being far superior to others.

With the beta period now over, players have been sharing their feedback about what they’d like to see at launch. While it’s been extremely positive for a Call of Duty release, fans haven’t been as impressed with the visuals, spawns, SBMM, and weapon balancing.

In a post on the Modern Warfare 3 subreddit, user FinanceEfficient7269 asked Sledgehammer Games to “PLEASE balance the guns.”

They said that while the 150 HP is nice, “some weapons are literally unplayable,” Shotguns are unusable unless you aim down sights, and there’s “no need” for the Longbow Sniper Rifle. They also claimed weapons with a slower TTK such as the MTZ-762 were impossible to make work in the beta build.

Many in the comments agreed, with ‘RunsWithBeef1’ claiming they’ll be sticking to Hardcore mode as they don’t expect there to be “balanced weapons of any sorts” at launch.

Snipers have been the biggest complaint; “The Longbow is utterly disgusting during the beta,” said ‘hi-fumii.’ “You simply cannot compete with that thing as an AR user no matter the range.”

“The fact that you can almost instantly start with a red dot and 30 round mag, with what seems like little to no flinch is baffling,” echoed ‘killlugh.’

We expect many of the weapons to have undergone change by Modern Warfare 3’s November 10 release date but whether the changes are enough to satisfy the community remains to be seen. In the meantime, check out how you can play the campaign ahead of launch.
