Modern Warfare 3 players have major issue with MW2 weapons added at launch
ActivisionFor the first time in franchise history, Modern Warfare 3 includes weapons from the previous title at launch. However, MW2’s guns being available straight away has split the community, with most wishing they’d never arrived.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 isn’t just a sequel to MW2 in terms of plot; MW3 builds on the previous year’s game by bringing over almost everything players unlocked. MW2 Operators, Calling Cards, Double XP Tokens, and even weapons can be used in Modern Warfare 3 alongside the 37 new weapons.
This means that your fully leveled weapons from MW2 can be used straight away in Modern Warfare 3. It didn’t take long for players to roast others for using MW2’s guns, but it seems players wish they were never there at launch.
We asked Call of Duty players if Modern Warfare 2’s guns should have transferred over to Modern Warfare 3 and of the 100,000 responses, 69.7% said they shouldn’t have. While on the surface it seems like players are extremely against the decision, players in the replies took more of an issue with how and when they were implemented.
Popular CoD YouTuber TheXclusiveAce said he doesn’t mind it, but “would’ve preferred waiting for Season 1 to integrate everything so the game could feel a bit more ‘new’ for the first few weeks at least.”
Another player said weapons should have transferred but “the logical way would have been to make it an unlocked feature after you prestige.” Many of the comments were in agreement, with ‘Gary’ echoing: “It was a good idea. I think they should have been unlocked after getting level 55 or something like that though. Not straight off the bat.”
I am shocked majority are saying no, transferring these weapons just adds more variety to the game. i’ve personally been using the intervention and it feels amazing compared to using it in MW2.

Not everyone was against Modern Warfare 2’s weapons arriving, though. “I am shocked majority are saying no, transferring these weapons just adds more variety to the game,” said YouTuber HunterTV. “I’ve personally been using the intervention and it feels amazing compared to using it in MW2.”
All of MW3’s weapons will be added to Warzone in early December so while players don’t seem happy now, being able to use every Warzone weapon in the same multiplayer game will be a godsend for those who are looking to run the meta weapons.
