The Modern Warfare 3 Season 4 update is set to bring plenty of fresh content to the game, and fans have spotted a teaser for a fan-favorite Advanced Warfare Killstreak in the first short trailer.

Modern Warfare 3 Season 4 is scheduled to kick off on May 29, and the devs dropped the first teaser trailer on May 16. It confirmed that the iconic Kar98k will return alongside a new Japanese-themed map, but another more subtle hint caught players’ eye.

The short trailer appeared to confirm that the DNA Bomb Killstreak from Advanced Warfare will also come back as part of the update. Early in the teaser, a couple of blink-and-you’ll-miss-them shots briefly showed a mysterious green gas followed by a strand of DNA.

All of this points towards the return of the classic Killstreak from the 2014 title, and comes after files referring to a “dna_nuke” were found by dataminers following Season 3 Reloaded. It will be the latest in a long line of AW items to arrive in MW3, following the likes of the MORS Sniper and BAL-27 Assault Rifle.

As long-time players will remember, the DNA Bomb was a secret Killstreak in Sledgehammer Games’ first solo CoD, earned for racking up 30 kills in one life. Anyone skilled enough to get one would start a 10-second timer before the bomb detonated and took out everyone on the enemy team.

The key difference between this and the regular Tactical Nuke was that it didn’t bring the match to an instant end. Instead, it would wipe out the enemy team in one quick blow, then the game would continue with a green mist lingering in the air.

Of course, MW3 already features an MGB Nuke for anyone who gets a 30 Killstreak, so it remains to be seen how the DNA Bomb will implemented into multiplayer. It’s possible that it will be added to the regular Killstreak list and require fewer eliminations to earn, or players who go on a 30 streak might be able to choose which device they want to call in.

We’ll also have to wait and see if the DNA Bomb finds its way into Warzone, which is also set to receive plenty of new content as part of the Season 4 update.
