MW3 players want “gorgeous” cel-shaded Shipment to replace dull variant

MW3 Season 5 introduced players to cel-shaded maps, including a variant for the iconic Shipment, which players are very happy with.

Cel-shading is an art style that gives off a comic-book look with black borders along the environment and bright colors. Those familiar with Borderlands will recognize the toon shading, which brings a more vibrant and fun feel to maps in MW3.

As well as a completely new map called Yard, the devs also decided to drop cel-shaded versions of Rust (Toonoxide) and Shipment (Celship).

Celship is a day version of the map, bringing a brighter and more colorful vibe in comparison to the darker night-themed Shipmas. Players are enjoying this change, as they took to Reddit to express their opinions.

A post by ‘OthoAi5657’ said, “This new Shipment map is sooo much better than this ugly Shipmas map,” and many in the comments agreed, “Agreed 100%, visibility is better, it feels more open, I love it.” One even described it as “gorgeous.”

The map can currently only be played in the Small Map Mosh Pit playlist, but players are enjoying the map so much that they are disappointed there’s no Celship 24/7.

Some even want to see Celship replace the current version of Shipment. “I’d like this to replace shipmas,” said one player. Another agreed, “Yep. They need to replace the Xmas one with this version.”

While many are enjoying the cel-shaded Shipment map for its brighter lighting, as some claim it helps visibility, there’s a handful who feel the opposite. These players don’t like the cel-shading as the bright colors make it “harder to see the enemy.”

“It makes the maps cartoonish and visibility is awkward,” agreed another. Despite the odd complaints, the majority seem to be enjoying the cel-shaded maps, and the devs confirmed in the CoD Blog that more are coming in the future.

Season 5 Reloaded will arrive with fresh updates, and then it’s time for the final season ahead of Black Ops 6, so we’ll have to wait and see which version of Shipment the devs decide to go with before the season ends.
