The Walking Dead crossover arrived in Warzone and Modern Warfare 3 Season 2, bringing a Rick Grimes Operator. But, players have been left confused by the character’s voice and whether the actor Andrew Lincoln provided the lines.

The Season 2 update is live in both Warzone and Modern Warfare 3, and players have waited no time jumping into all the new content. Multiplayer fans received a host of new 6v6 maps, while Fortune’s Keep returned to the battle royale with its own Ranked Resurgence mode.

One of the biggest additions in the update was The Walking Dead crossover, which saw protagonist Rick Grimes arrive as an Operator in the Battle Pass, with Michonne to come later in the season.

However, MW3 and Warzone players have been left divided over whether Andrew Lincoln provided the voice for the Operator, after noticing that some of his lines sound “nothing like” the actor.

Does Andrew Lincoln voice Rick Grimes in MW3 & Warzone?

It isn’t clear whether or not Andrew Lincoln is the voice of the Rick Grimes Operator in MW3 and Warzone. Lincoln’s face is used for the skin, as it’s part of the crossover with the upcoming The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live spin-off that he’s set to star in, but fans aren’t convinced by the dialogue.

Reddit user ‘ShadowOpsFN’ asked, “Who tf did they get to voice Rick,” alongside a clip of some of the character’s voice lines. Many players agreed that it didn’t sound like the actor, despite his likeness being used for the Operator.

“This is the thing I was most excited about for the Rick skin. Having his gritty voice lines in game. And then we get this s**t ahahaha,” said one reply, before another added: “The VA for Rick sounds so goofy. How did they listen to these voice lines and think it was a good idea to go forward with them?”

Meanwhile, others argued that Rick’s execution dialogue in Warzone and MW3 sounds much closer to Andrew Lincoln’s, with ‘tiktokalnuke’ calling it “amazing.”

This caused plenty of confusion, as fans struggled to figure out who actually recorded the lines: “See what I don’t get, is that voice line sounds EXACTLY like Andrew Lincoln, but others he sounds off. I don’t get it lol.”

There were also a handful of players who believed that the voice was authentic but felt that something may have gone wrong when it was being recorded.

“Think it’s the voice direction. That’s 100% Andrew Lincoln,” said one reply, with another agreeing: “Voice direction may have been done over more than one session, possibly with different voice directors present.”

So, whether or not Andrew Lincoln voiced some of or all of Rick Grimes’ lines in MW3 and Warzone remains a mystery for now. We’ll have to wait and see if the devs address the debate in the future.
