Modern Warfare 3 finally hits Xbox Game Pass with Season 5
Xbox Game Pass subscribers will get to enjoy the last couple of seasons of MW3, as Microsoft have officially confirmed its arrival on the service this month.
Modern Warfare 3 will launch on the Xbox Game Pass along with the Season 5 update on July 24, 2024. Xbox Game Pass members will get the MW3 Cross-Gen bundle, while PC Game Pass players will get the MW3 Standard Editions through the Xbox app on PC.
Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson first reported this on July 10, followed by Xbox leaker eXtas1stv on July 21 noting the specific date of the report. Finally, Xbox confirmed the game’s arrival to the subscription service on July 23.
It doesn’t come as much of a surprise since Microsoft announced that Call of Duty would be coming to the Game Pass, as well as confirming that Black Ops 6 will arrive on the service for its October 25 release date.
MW3 will be the first of the older Call of Duty titles to be added to the service after Microsoft’s Activision acquisition, which could indicate a similar destiny for previous titles in the popular FPS franchise.
Modern Warfare 3’s Game Pass release coincides with Season 5’s launch, which brings some exciting content for new players to dig their teeth into, including a WWE collab, four new weapons, and more.
It’s unclear how Microsoft managed to bypass Sony’s Game Pass block clause, which is meant to still be in effect until the end of MW3’s live service offerings (Season 6), but the game will arrive on the service for its penultimate season.
The monthly subscription service’s Ultimate offering has increased from $16.99/£12.99 to $19.99/£14.99 on Xbox consoles, and the PC Game Pass will go up from $9.99/£7.99 to $11.99/£9.99 per month. This is now the price for new users while existing subscribers will have to start paying the new price in September if they wish to continue enjoying MW3.
The full game, including multiplayer, Zombies, and campaign, will be available for those subscribed to either the PC Game Pass or Game Pass Ultimate. The Xbox Game Pass Console tier players will only have access to the campaign.
