Outbreak set to return in CoD 2024 Zombies after Treyarch job listing
Outbreak was a popular Zombies mode in Black Ops Cold War, and it’s set to return Call of Duty 2024 after a Treyarch job listing mentioned the mode.
Black Ops Cold War’s Zombies was loved by the community, and the large-scale Outbreak mode also became a surprise hit. Taking place in the massive Ural Mountains location, Outbreak gave Zombies players free rein to take on the objectives at their own pace.
Treyarch are said to be developing CoD 2024 and it wouldn’t be a Treyarch Call of Duty without Zombies. It seems Outbreak will also be coming back, with the developers mentioning the large-scale mode in a job listing for a Senior Level Designer for Warzone.
“As a Senior Level Designer, you will work on production content for Call of Duty Warzone, Outbreak, and other large map experiences,” said the job listing.
From this, we expect a brand-new Warzone map to arrive with the next Black Ops game, but it seems the playspace will also be used for Outbreak. Whether Warzone 2’s popular DMZ mode will stick around also remains to be seen, but it appears Activision are keen to continue developing “large map experiences.”
Not much else is known about Call of Duty 2024 yet, but leaked concept art teases a 1990s setting that features the Battle of Mogadishu — also known as the Black Hawk Down incident.
Rumors also suggest a two-year cycle for the next Black Ops game, and it could even arrive on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
Call of Duty 2023, which is expected to be a continuation of Modern Warfare 2 from Sledgehammer Games, is still to come, so it’ll still be some time before we know any concrete details about Treyarch’s next Call of Duty game but stay tuned for any leaks, rumors, or announcements.
