RUMOR: Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 will have free MP DLC, with Season Pass for Zombies

One of the things many users noticed after Thursday’s Black Ops 4 reveal was that Activision did not announce any Season Pass for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. For the past 3 years, Activision has announced a Digital Deluxe Edition alongside reveal that included a Season Pass.

For Black Ops 4, the only edition the company has officially announced is the Standard Edition, while some retailers have also listed a Specialist Edition, which does not include a Season Pass.

A new rumor from GamingINTELcom (Matt Harris, who previously leaked some info, although he did exaggerate some of his info) states that Activision plans to move to a free MP maps DLC model for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. Activision has already confirmed that there will be microtransactions in the game, as Call of Duty Points are returning for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4.

The site has also reported that Treyarch also plans to have a Season Pass for Zombies only.

charlieINTEL is not able to confirm this information at this time. Activision has not announced any DLC plans for this game as of now.

In an interview with Polygon this week, Treyarch hinted at new plans for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 DLC, stating that fans would be happy in their new direction.

If this rumor is accurate, it would be a radical shift in the post launch support plans for Call of Duty. Activision has had Season Passes in tact for Call of Duty since Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 in 2012. The company has stuck with a 4 DLC Packs a year model, alongside microtransactions for the games. Changing the model around would help match the current gaming industry. Activision remains one of the only companies hesitant to change their DLC model.
