PlayStation’s DLC deal with Activision seems to cover DLC packs only, not micro items
It looks like Sony and Activision’s deal about Call of Duty DLC seems to cover full on DLC map packs only not micro DLC. Today, the Black Market received an update with all new items (camos, gear heads, and more), and Activision will bring Call of Duty Points to Black Ops 3 on PS4, Xbox One, and PC at the same time. Technically, Call of Duty Points and new gear is considered “DLC.”
Last year, with Advanced Warfare, all new micro items (including new gear sets and weapons that were added into the Advanced Supply Drops) were available first on Xbox platforms, then hit PlayStation Network and PC 30 days later. With Call of Duty: Ghosts and Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, all new camos and micro items were able first on Xbox platforms as well.
This seems to suggest that Sony only has full DLC map packs first on the PlayStation platform, but all other content will be coming to all platforms at similar time.
Thus far, all of Sony’s big marketing for Call of Duty has only been promoting “Play Map Packs 30 Days Early Only on PlayStation.” It is very clear about map packs, while Xbox’s advertising for Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare was “all add-on content is available first on Xbox.”
Looks like Xbox One and PC gamers will only have to wait for the four DLC packs next year, not micro DLCs.
