Underrated Warzone rifle “dominates” meta SMGs at close range

The close-range meta is extremely competitive in Warzone Season and CoD expert WhosImmortal has revealed an Assault Rifle that players are sleeping, capable of outgunning the best SMGs in the game.

Warzone Season 1 is packed full of weapons to suit any playstyle, from all-around Assault Rifles to deadly long-range Snipers. When it comes to close-range fights, the meta is fairly competitive with plenty of fast-firing SMGs to choose from.

The likes of the WSP Swarm and Striker have emerged as the go-to options so, as most lobbies are made up of players running one of these as Sniper support.

However, Warzone guru WhosImmortal has revealed an AR that players are sleeping on, which can actually go toe-to-toe and even outperform the game’s best SMGs.

In an upload to his channel, the YouTuber was going through the best guns in Warzone after the January 11 update. One of the most surprising picks was the Chimera, which he claimed is one of the strongest close-range options out there.

“This thing is really good as Sniper support, and for rifles absolutely dominates the close range – the first 20 meters or so,” WhosImmortal explained. “This thing just laps everything else and it’s going to outgun SMGs there as well.”

• Barrel: 6.5″ EXF Vorpal
• Muzzle: Shadowstriker Suppressor
• Underbarrel: FTAC SP-10 Angled Grip
• Optic: MK. 3 Reflector
• Magazine: 45 Round Mag

WhosImmortal kicked off his best Chimera loadout in Warzone with the 6.5″ EXF Vorpal Barrel and Shadowstriker Suppressor, which buffs the ARs damage range and drastically improves the recoil control. This comes at the cost of some bullet velocity, but this shouldn’t be noticeable in close-range fights.

Then, he went for the FTAC SP-10 Angled Grip to ensure the rifle was laser-accurate up to 20 meters. He rounded the build out with the MK. 3 Reflector for additional accuracy and 45 Round Mags to let players deal with multiple enemies before reloading.

With this setup, the YouTuber claimed that the Chimera is a genuine contender in the close-range meta, as well as being a “pretty fun” alternative to the most popular SMGs. Be sure to take it for a spin in your next match.
