Warzone players will have to wait a little longer before they can drop back into Verdansk, as Black Ops 6 won’t bring a new big map to the free-to-play battle royale game.

Previous reports claimed that Verdansk would return for Warzone with Black Ops 6 in 2024, although this was never actually confirmed by Activision.

Insider Gaming have reported that Verdansk was never meant to return, but following the massive increase in players Epic Games gained from Fortnite OG, Activision decided to attempt to replicate that success with the return of Verdansk. This put 2024’s new big map, believed to be called Avalon, on the back burner for 2025 instead.

However, according to trusted CharlieIntel sources and a report from BobNetworkUK, Verdansk’s return has been delayed from Season 1 of Black Ops 6, and won’t come to Warzone until 2025.

Urzikstan will remain the battle royale’s main big map, but according to the report, it will come with POI updates and Ranked Play with Black Ops 6 Season 1. This is reportedly to make up for the delay of the iconic original map.

There has been no official confirmation but trusted sources say that Verdansk’s return has been delayed to sometime during Black Ops 6’s mid-lifecycle.

It’s not yet clear whether CoD Next will reveal anything about Warzone, as all that’s been said so far is that the event will provide more details on multiplayer. There was also no information regarding the battle royale during the BO6 showcase, so perhaps these are indications of the delay.

If Treyarch’s title follows the same format as recent Call of Duty games, it will have six seasons of content. That means Verdansk may be seen in Warzone once Black Ops 6 Season 3 comes around, which is quite the wait for those who were excited about the big map’s return.

BobNetworkUK also claimed that Treyarch are working on their own Resurgence map for Black Ops 6, which will arrive during the game’s live seasons. The map is rumored to be called “Area 99,” so perhaps the setting will be a highly classified United States facility, which is very on-brand for the Black Ops franchise.
