Warzone devs tease major Killstreak change coming in Season 2
ActivisionRaven Software has shared a sneak peek at a brand-new QoL feature for Precision Airstrikes in Warzone, which is slated for release sometime during Season 2.
Warzone Season 1 Reloaded didn’t have a very smooth launch, as the mid-season update completely broke the game, but Raven Software said it was because they were “laying the groundwork” for some fan-favorite features with the update, and it caused “conflict between live player data and our servers,” resulting in the technical issues.
One of the major reported issues by players was the Killstreak notification not showing up, and it appears it was related to a new QoL update tied to Precision Airstrikes.
On X (formerly Twitter), the official Raven Software account showcased an upcoming QoL change, saying that the Killstreak notification bug was a “side-effect of an in-progress Quality of Life feature.”
The feature shows the path of the upcoming Precision Airstrike on your minimap, as seen in the video posted by Raven Software above. As the airstrike is launched, a red circle in the minimap will show all players the area where it’ll land.
Just as the developer posted this, plenty of people weren’t happy and said that this is a “terrible” change and removes the surprise element when you launch the airstrike in front of players when they’re running.
But Raven quickly clarified that it’ll only appear if “you are within range of the Precision Airstrike when it’s first called in!” So, it’ll retain the surprise element, and you can still call in an airstrike anticipating the enemy’s position, and they won’t be notified unless they’re in range.
According to devs, the decision for the QoL is to give players all the information they need to make a choice. More details on the same will be shared soon, likely as we go closer to the release of Season 2.
