Warzone players baffled as “obsolete” Assault Rifle has been nerfed again
ActivisionWarzone’s developers dropped a slew of weapon balance changes on October 23 but some of the changes have left players confused, with an “obsolete” Assault Rifle getting hit with another nerf.
Call of Duty: Warzone has received its final content drop ahead of Modern Warfare 3 with The Haunting event but players were disappointed to see the update didn’t feature any weapon balance changes. Those buffs and nerfs finally arrived with the October 23 update, nerfing some of the game’s most powerful weapons.
Although the update buffed weapons such as the M4 and ISO Hemlock, players weren’t impressed to see the M13B hit with another nerf. This fast-firing, low-recoil Assault Rifle had never been the strongest weapon in the game, so seeing it have its close-range damage, neck damage multiplier, and torso damage multiplier decreased left fans confused.
“A third nerf to the M13B?” Asked Reddit user ‘TryToBanMeAgain’ in the Warzone subreddit following the update.
“Yet another nerf to the M13 making it even more obsolete than ever before,” they explained. “They straight up just don’t want anyone using this gun anymore, and I really don’t understand why.
“If anyone here has an M13 class for Warzone or DMZ I highly recommend using literally ANYTHING else,” they concluded.
“Yeah some decisions are weird. It’s like early S6 when they buffed the MP5 even tho it was already the top meta weapon,” responded ‘ThunderTRP.’
Players offered several theories for why the M13B was nerfed, with ‘ThirdPawn’ believing it’s the devs giving players who still use the Assault Rifle “a gentle nudge” to move on to something else. Others believe they’re starting to nerf MW2 guns ahead of the Modern Warfare 3 integration so the new weapons will be the meta.
User ‘SometimesRunning’ replied that because there are over 60 weapons in the game, there’s “Absolutely no way of keeping guns from being obsolete when there’s that much balancing required.”
However, some said the nerfs to the M13B won’t change the weapon that much, and the buff to the headshot multiplayer will reward accurate players. How MW3’s weapons will affect the overall meta remains to be seen, but the sniping meta is said to return.
