After the developers confirmed that the Kar98k would receive a massive nerf in Warzone, popular content creator Metaphor leaked the potential changes, but players think this won’t fix the stale meta.

The fan-favorite rifle, which arrived with the Season 4 update, has completely taken over the long-range meta, even taking down several Assault Rifles and Snipers.

Following complaints from players about the powerful Marksman Rifle, the SHG team confirmed via a Reddit reply that with Season 4 Reloaded, the Kar98k will receive a nerf, however, they didn’t share details about the changes.

In his June 20 video, content creator Metaphor shared a leak about the potential changes coming to the Kar. The rifle is reportedly receiving a nerf to its aim assist, damage to different body parts, bullet velocity, and fire rate.

The Kar98k has consistently been one of the most popular rifles in Call of Duty games.

After sharing this information, players worried it wouldn’t change the game’s stale meta: “I think it needs a slight nerf but I also think the biggest thing is we need way more buffs. Imagine if every meta from the current game was currently available? It’d be a blast,” a player expressed.

Another player noted, “Was fun but got pretty stale. Bring back ARs.” Agreeing with this sentiment, a third user added “Really frustrating they can’t see that other guns need buffed/made fun to use.”

In light of the Kar98k nerf, players agreed that developers should enhance other weapon categories, such as Assault Rifles, to increase competitiveness in the meta, rather than just nerfing the Kar98k. They feel this method of weapon balancing will always lead to a stale meta where every player is “running the same loadout.”

While these leaked changes haven’t been officially confirmed by devs, it’s expected additional information regarding the Kar98k‘s nerf will arrive with the Season 4 Reloaded patch notes on June 26.
