Warzone streamer reveals he’s cheating by not realizing he’d already been caught

Warzone’s Ricochet anti-cheat trolls cheaters by giving them major in-game nerfs and a streamer suffering from one of these effects took to X to complain, exposing his hacks to the world.

Throughout Warzone’s first couple of years, the game was rife with cheaters and in answer, the devs built their very own Ricochet anti-cheat. Not only does Ricochet anti-cheat catch and ban cheaters, but it’ll also mess with them before dropping the ban hammer.

Cheaters will get punishments such as having their weapons removed or dealing zero damage and a player who took to X to complain immediately learned a hard lesson.

Streamer ‘destowed’ took to X asking “why they victimising me,” showing them plummeting from the plane at rapid speed without a chance to pull their parachute. After being revived, they fell from a small roof with the same velocity, getting knocked once again.

What happened here was the ‘Splat’ anti-cheat mechanic took effect. “With Splat, if a cheater is discovered, we may randomly, and for fun, disable their parachute sending them careening into the ground after they deploy,” explained the devs.

“Splat can also adjust player velocity, which transforms a bunny hop into a 10,000-foot drop taking them out instantly,” they said, which is what happened when destowed fell from the roof.

The devs said these mitigations will only apply once a cheater has been confirmed to be cheating and won’t affect players who are under investigation, have been spam reported, and “the game can’t accidentally activate it.”

Whether the streamer has been permanently banned yet remains to be seen, but the purpose of these effects like Splat is to keep the player in the game while collecting more data from them.

The post was flooded with responses and quote tweets calling destowed out for hacking, but the player appears adamant that they’re innocent.
