Warzone’s Gas Mask gets another much-needed change in Season 5
ActivisionThe Gas Mask has been a controversial feature in Warzone for many years, thanks to multiple glitches and its occasionally frustrating animation. Now, in Season 5, a change has been rolled out that looks to make the equipment less intrusive.
When the Urzikstan update arrived with MW3 Season 1, the Gas Mask was changed to come with a hazy overlay whenever it was used. This ensured that players always knew when they had it equipped but caused some visibility issues, especially when not in the storm.
After months of complaints, this has been addressed in Season 5, as the Gas Mask overlay is now completely dynamic and only triggers if you have it equipped while in the gas. This means that you can safely equip a mask whenever you come across one, without the overlay distracting you during gunfights.
If you then find yourself caught in the storm, the overlay will appear to assure you that you’re protected. Once it has activated, it will start to degrade and crack as normal as the cloud starts to wear it down.
Then, once you escape the gas and return to safe ground, the effect will automatically disappear again, removing the need to manually take it off as you return to the action.
This may seem like a minor change but it’s one that players have been hoping to see ever since Urzikstan launched. Many felt that the Gas Mask overlay was unnecessarily distracting, especially after cracking in the storm, forcing them to manually remove it and stow it in their backpack.
Luckily, thanks to this improvement, you can leave it equipped at all times unless you’re looking to free up inventory space, safe in the knowledge that you’re protected from the gas without it getting in the way.
This means you can focus all your attention on leveling up the STG Assault Rifle, Static-HV SMG, and the other new weapons introduced in Season 5.
