CoD 2024 leaks could have revealed next Black Ops game’s setting & time period

A dataminer claims to have uncovered CoD 2024 files that could have revealed when and where Treyarch’s game will take place.

Although Treyarch’s next game isn’t due for another couple of years, a new leak may have given players a clue as to when and where CoD 2024 could take place.

It’s an exciting time to be a Call of Duty player, with plenty of projects in the pipeline to look forward to. 2022 will see the release of both Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2, while Warzone Mobile is expected to drop fairly soon.

2023 is set to be the first year since the early 2000s where there is no mainline CoD title, but Treyarch’s next effort is then due to drop in 2024, and the first details are starting to leak.

Just days after a handful of screenshots were found in the Warzone Mobile files, a new leak may have uncovered the setting of the new game.

Call of Duty dataminer RealiityUK claimed to have found files titled “t10_usa_mogadishu,” although their account has since been suspended.

It led to speculation that Mogadishu could be referring to the Battle of Mogadishu, which took place in 1993 in Somalia. This could be our first hint that Treyarch’s next game will be set during the 1990s.

As fans pointed out, the Battle of Mogadishu conflict is better known as the ‘Black Hawk Down incident,’ which inspired the 1999 book and classic 2001 film.

It came after the United States intervened in the Somali Civil War which famously resulted in two Black Hawk helicopters being shot out of the sky.

CoD 2024 is largely expected to be a new entry in the popular Black Ops sub-series, which is no stranger to using real-world conflicts as the backdrop for its campaign or multiplayer maps. So, if this leak turns out to be accurate, the Battle of Mogadishu could play a pivotal role in Treyarch’s plans.

Of course, this is all just speculation for now, and there’s always the possibility that Mogadishu is just a codename being used internally.

With the game still years away at this point, it’s likely that we’ll have to wait a while before we get any concrete details.

In the meantime, take a look at every leaked weapon from Modern Warfare 2, as well as the multiplayer maps that could show up.

Call of Duty 2024: Developer, setting, engine, leaked concept art, more

After MW2, the next Call of Duty game isn’t expected until 2024 but leaks and rumors already point toward its developer, setting, and more.

Even though Modern Warfare 2 arrives in 2022, there are already significant leaks and rumors surrounding Call of Duty 2024. It’s expected to be the next Black Ops, so here’s everything we know about the next Call of Duty, including its developers, setting, engine, and more.

If reports prove true, 2023 is set to be the first year without a premium CoD game since 2005’s Call of Duty 2. This means that following 2022’s Modern Warfare 2 and its campaign, multiplayer, Spec Ops, and leaked DMZ mode, the next CoD game will release in 2024.

Although a long way off, leaks and rumors are already emerging about 2024’s entry, which is expected to be the next in the Black Ops series. Here’s everything we know so far, including the developers, setting, time period, engine, and more.

Call of Duty 2024 developers

It’s all but confirmed that Treyarch will be developing Call of Duty 2024, which is expected to be the next title in the Black Ops series.

Treyarch’s return was first reported by Bloomberg after the Microsoft acquisition was announced, but it would also make sense with Infinity Ward and Treyarch typically taking the releases in turns.

Call of Duty 2024 setting & time period

Incredibly, concept art for Call of Duty 2024 was reportedly found in Warzone Mobile‘s game files, giving us an indication of the game’s setting and time period.

Call of Duty dataminer ‘Reality’ discovered that Warzone Mobile’s files had a string for “t10_usa_mogadishu.” Players immediately speculated that this refers to the Battle of Mogadishu, also known as the Black Hawk Down incident.

This battle took place in Somalia in 1993, meaning the next Black Ops could feature the United Nation’s intervention in Somalia during the early 90s.

However, back in September 2021, renowned industry insider Tom Henderson claimed that “Treyarch’s next game is also semi-futuristic (boots on the ground).”

It’s entirely possible that, similar to Black Ops 2 and Black Ops Cold War, Call of Duty 2024 will take place in different time periods. But, it’s unlikely that Activision or Treyarch will provide clarity any time soon.

Leaked Call of Duty 2024 concept art

Alongside the string that alluded to the Battle of Mogadishu and Modern Warfare 2 map images, Reality claimed to discover concept art for CoD 2024 in Warzone Mobile’s game files.

This concept art shows what appears to be two of the maps that are in development. The first is a map that’s codenamed ‘Stealth’ and appears to feature a US military base in a desert area.

Those who know their military history might recognize what looks like the Lockheed F-117 Nighthawk stealth bomber in the hanger, giving further evidence of a 1990s setting.

The second map is codenamed ‘Pillage’ and shows soldiers entering what appears to be a wartorn mansion or palace.

With Call of Duty 2024 still in early development, it’s possible that these designs will be scrapped or heavily altered ahead of launch.

Call of Duty 2024 engine

Starting with Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2, every future Call of Duty game will be developed under “one unified engine” — an advanced version of the IW engine.

Speaking to the Washington Post, Call of Duty’s General Manager Johanna Faries confirmed that even though the next Black Ops will be on the same engine as Modern Warfare 2, it will still feel different. They want Treyarch games to feel like Treyarch games and MW games to feel like Modern Warfare.

Will there be a CoD game in 2023?

Although it hasn’t been confirmed by Activision yet, Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier reported that Activision delayed Treyarch’s CoD 2023 to CoD 2024, meaning that there should be no premium Call of Duty in 2023.

Instead, it’s likely that Modern Warfare 2 will receive two years of support, likely resulting in twelve seasons of content, bringing new maps, weapons, Operators, and more.

However, an Activision spokesperson responded: “We have an exciting slate of premium and free-to-play Call of Duty experiences for this year, next year and beyond. Reports of anything otherwise are incorrect.”

That’s everything we know about the next Call of Duty game so far! Stay tuned, as we expect even more leaks and official reveals throughout the rest of 2022 and 2023.

First images of Treyarch’s Call of Duty 2024 Black Ops leak in Warzone Mobile files

Images of Treyarch’s 2024 Call of Duty title have leaked after being discovered within Warzone Mobile’s game files.

The first images of Treyarch’s next Call of Duty game, which is set for a 2024 release, has leaked online after data miners found content in Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile’s closed alpha files.

RealiityUK, a Call of Duty data miner, got access to the Warzone Mobile Project Aurora’s closed alpha and went through the game’s files to find a variety of upcoming unannounced Call of Duty content.

Earlier, he leaked images of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’s multiplayer maps, including loading screens of the game’s Ground War maps.

Now, RealiityUK also found images of Treyarch’s Call of Duty 2024 game.

Call of Duty 2024 MP Map Images

The leaker has posted images of two MP maps that are part of Treyarch’s next Call of Duty game. The images appear to be concept art for the maps, as the game is still in early development.

First image shared by the leaker showcases the map ‘Stealth,’ which is a codename for the map. It appears to be taking place off of a USA military base in an unknown location.

The second image posted is for a map titled ‘Pillage.’ Just a few aspects of this map can be seen in the leaked image.

It’s not clear as to why Warzone Mobile’s closed alpha contains files for unreleased content, including for a game that is still two years away.

Call of Duty 2024 Details

While Activision has not officially confirmed it yet, Bloomberg reported earlier this year that Treyarch’s next premium Call of Duty game will release in 2024, making 2023 a off year for a major new premium Call of Duty title.

A delay on the game to 2024 will give Treyarch four years of development time with their last premium title being Black Ops Cold War in 2020. Treyarch has supported Vanguard’s development on Zombies and Ranked Play and is credited with supporting the development of Modern Warfare 2, although the extent to their work on the title is not clear.

This will result in 2022 Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 potentially having two years of post launch support.

Details on what Call of Duty 2024 is are still scarce, with some rumors claiming it will be set in the ‘near future’ and keep boots on the ground.

Be sure to stay tuned for any news or updates on Treyarch’s next Call of Duty title.

Overwhelming majority of CoD players are glad Treyarch’s 2023 game could be delayed

Call of Duty fans are used to a new game every year, but 2023 marks a change from that schedule, and players seem pretty happy about it.

Call of Duty games have always been released annually, but 2023 marks a big change for the franchise. Players have been reacting to Treyarch’s CoD being delayed by a year, with the response seemingly pretty positive.

Since the news dropped about Wazone 2 and the development of Modern Warfare II by Infinity Ward, players have not just been wondering what will happen to Warzone, but also Treyarch’s next title.

While it was supposed to be released in 2023, Activision recently announced that it would be delayed for a year, meaning Modern Warfare 2 will run over both 2022 and 2023.

While you may think players wouldn’t be too happy about the delay of a Call of Duty game, a recent poll would suggest the opposite.

With both Vanguard and Warzone getting a lot of complaints from players, it seems the Call of Duty devs are going to be focussing on spending more time on the game before rushing its release.

This does mean that players will have to wait longer for releases, but as Activision have confirmed that a new free to play title will also be coming out, this may fill the gap that the delay will create.

In a recent poll held by our CharlieINTEL Twitter page, it seems players are feeling fairly positive about the delay of CoD 2023.

As you can see from the poll, only 8.2% of those who participated are skeptical about the delay of Treyarch’s 2023 Call of Duty game.

A whopping 91.8% voted for “good thing,” which shows that the players are most likely happy to see the devs work on something for longer than usual, as the result may be a more polished game with fewer issues and more content on release.

It’s obviously a bit of a shame for those who enjoy Treyarch’s style of CoD, but Modern Warfare (2019) was such a success it won’t be surprising if the sequel is another hit.
