CoD Mobile devs break down major Season 2 battle royale changes
With Season 2 of Call of Duty Mobile finally underway, there are a ton of brand new additions to the battle royale, and the developers have detailed these changes for the fans.
CoD Mobile’s Season 2 update brought a ton of new maps, modes, characters and weapons, to the game. Many of these changes were mentioned in the patch notes, but there are a few others that caught players by surprise.
You will be able to discover all of these changes for yourself after jumping into a match of the battle royale. The developers broke these down in a recent community update, and we’ll go through everything they revealed.
New CoD Mobile BR mode: Tank Battle
Season 2, titled Day of Reckoning, will add two new game modes to CoD Mobile, one of which is Tank Battle – arriving on March 19. Activision made it clear that it’s “unlike anything [they’ve] had before in the game.”

While details are scarce, it’s clear that it will focus on tank warfare and players will be able to call in their own tanks through a new mechanic.
You’ll have to collect pieces of a tank in order to build it, and then use it against your opponents in battle. Since every player could have their own tank, we can expect a ton of explosive action from this mode.
Alcatraz is now a temporary map
One of the biggest changes in Season 2 is that the Alcatraz map will no longer be permanent. The devs explained that this is because it has a relatively lower player base than other locations in the battle royale.
“With any mode or map, the permanency of that solely relies on how much it is being played,” they stated. “While there is plenty of positive reception about Alcatraz, we no longer wish to keep it constantly active and are bringing it back to the limited time mode rotation.”
So, you’ll only be able to play in this map during specific periods of time. Luckily, the next opportunity is on April 9, so you’ll get to drop in soon enough.
CoD Mobile Season 2: Day of Reckoning schedule
Activision also provided the Season 2 playlist schedule in the community update. Currently, Blitz is in effect in the game until the arrival of the Tank Battle mode. Once it’s here, we’ll get three new game modes.
The final Season 2 playlist is set to end on April 16, which is most likely when Season 3 will go live. We’ve listed every available limited-time mode in the Day of Reckoning below:
- March 10 – March 18: BR Blitz
- March 19 – March 25: BR Tank Battle
- March 26 – April 1: BR Sniper
- April 2 – April 8: BR Warfare
- April 9 – April 16: BR Alcatraz
