Each year, Call of Duty players spend hours upon hours grinding out the mastery camos for each weapon. Fed up with the “tedious” challenges over the past few years, players are calling for major changes with Modern Warfare 2.

Modern Warfare 2 brings an entirely new arsenal of modern-day weaponry, many of which have been leaked through Warzone Mobile’s files. Once the game launches tons of players will be grinding through each weapon level to unlock the Gold camo and all of the other mastery camos.

Players weren’t fond of Modern Warfare 2019, Cold War, and Vanguard’s weapon camo challenges, and are calling for Infinity Ward to bring major changes with Modern Warfare 2.

Reddit user Lumenprotoplasma took to the Modern Warfare 2 subreddit to ask for two things with the new game — no small map playlists and “no awful camo challenges.”

They brought up bullet penetration kills and getting 100 kills with “dumb” attachment combinations as the type of challenges they hope Infinity Ward avoid.

Many players disagreed with removing small map playlists, but overwhelmingly supported the major change to the camo grind. “Even worse is that these challenges promote camping and slow paced styles, while also being tedious at the same time,” said one user.

“Challenges like longshot and mounted kills just aren’t fun and made me camp,” explained u/BruhhemMomentum, saying that they needed to find workarounds just to have fun.

Players called for Modern Warfare 2 to bring back the more simplified camo challenges, where players would only need to get headshots or kills while crouched. Infinity Ward will likely want to keep the grind a challenge, so don’t expect anything too simple.

Whether Infinity Ward will remove some of the more disliked challenges remains to be seen but players are hoping for a fun and rewarding grind — especially with Modern Warfare 2 not having a Zombies mode to grind for its unique weapon camos.
