CoD players call for return of classic prestige system in Vanguard

Call of Duty players are asking the developers to bring back the original prestige system from past titles in the upcoming Vanguard game.

Call of Duty: Vanguard will take the series back to WWII, and there’s plenty of exciting new content confirmed, but players are asking for the return of the classic prestige system.

There is a ton of excitement for Call of Duty: Vanguard after we got a closer look at it through the official reveal, gameplay premiere, and the Champion Hill Alpha. Fans were quick to give feedback to the developers.

They recently asked for changes to the Vanguard mini-map and healing system, and now a few players have made it clear that they want to see the return of the classic prestige system in the upcoming Call of Duty title.

Reddit user smlfan123 made a post in the Vanguard subreddit, reminiscing about the prestige system in older Call of Duty titles. The player expressed his disappointment over the progression system in the last two games.

Modern Warfare and Black Ops Cold War introduced a new Prestige system to the franchise that saw players keep all of their weapons and attachments and only be reset to a base level to which they could start leveling up again.

Older CoD titles would let you reset completely and work your way up again to unlock weapons and attachments.

“Unfortunately, I don’t think Vanguard will bring this back since I think the removal of prestige is tied to Warzone integration, but I think it’d be a great treat for the fans if they could enroll in a prestige mode, which was already totally optional in the first place,” wrote the user.

Many commenters acknowledged that the previous prestige system was fun, and they would be overjoyed if the developers decided to bring it back in Vanguard or some other title.

One player had a creative idea of how the devs could approach implementing this system. “Create two separate ranks: one shows your overall ranking, and the other shows your current season rank. Best of both worlds.”

It remains to be seen if we’ll see the return of this system to the Call of Duty franchise, but we will be sure to update you if there are any developments.

Call of Duty: Vanguard: All confirmed maps so far

With 16 confirmed 6v6 maps, here is a guide to all the maps we know of so far in Sledgehammer games’ Call of Duty: Vanguard.

Published

on

cod vanguard maps

The Beta for Call of Duty: Vanguard has already revealed several of the game’s maps, and we know of more to come, so here’s a quick guide to all the confirmed CoD maps so far.

Maps are a vital component of a Call of Duty game and can determine how successful it is. Campaign missions and guns are fun, but it’s the best Call of Duty maps that players remember the most fondly.

Crash, Terminal, Nuketown, Raid, Highrise, and so many others evoke memories for players and even create new ones as their popularity leads to map remasters.

Call of Duty: Vanguard looks to carry on this trend by offering prospective buyers and fans another year of compelling gameplay on interesting and varied maps.

Here is every confirmed Call of Duty: Vanguard map so far.

All Call of Duty: Vanguard 6v6 maps so far

Gavutu

gavutu map in cod vanguard

A location that truly makes use of the capabilities of state-of-the-art, modern-day hardware. Gavutu is a stunning war-torn island that pelts the player with rain and various weather effects, whilst also offering several different ways of fighting.

There’s the classic beachfront complete with cover and means to flank the opposition, there are several pathways that link the three main channels together (even providing sniping lanes), and the matter of a giant ship situated on land that provides different levels of combat and verticality.

Hotel Royal

hotel royal map in cod vanguard

Centered around a giant hotel complete with a full kitchen, bar, lounge areas, and other facilities, Hotel Royal might be one of Call of Duty’s most expansive and ambitious maps ever made.

If you’re not eager to throw yourself into the inevitable carnage within the building, you can opt to flank all around the outside of it, contesting ledges and rooftops.

But the real fun is on the inside of the premises, as the game’s new emphasis on destruction leads to explosives blowing doors open and bullets puncturing holes in the walls. You’ll need to wade through scattered glass into tight rooms filled with multiple players – thanks to the game’s Combat Pacing options.

Red Star

cod vanguard red star map

A frosty hello awaits anyone who crosses your path in this open square covered in snow. The desolation is apparent throughout each of the map’s buildings with large chunks missing, making for more devious gunfights and sniping and flanking opportunities.

The map definitely feels like the biggest map in the Call of Duty: Vanguard Beta and can become slightly problematic if it’s only a 6v6 match. But once you start to add numbers to the scenario, games become open, frantic, and extremely varied.

Eagle’s Nest

cod vanguard eagle's nest map

The fourth map is arriving in the second week of Vanguard’s Beta testing, and multiplayer footage of it showed Eagle’s Nest to be a quaint location atop some mountains.

It’s similar to Hotel Royal in that fixates on a building located in the middle of the map, but the two spawn areas have a lot of room to negotiate and could make for some interesting duels in themselves.

Castle

cod vanguard castle map

The Call of Duty: Vanguard official multiplayer blog outed two remake maps that would definitely be featuring in the newest CoD shooter.

The first of which is Castle from Call of Duty: World at War, and has never been seen in a CoD game since, until now. Its primarily situated in and around a Japanese castle, which is evident because of the iconic rooftops and shoji screens – which are now destructible.

It will be interesting to see how much the map has changed compared to its original 2008 release, but one thing that’s certain is it’s nice to see it back.

Dome

cod vanguard dome map

The second of our two confirmed remasters is Dome – a map requested by Call of Duty fans in fact. It’s very reminiscent of smaller maps like Shoot House, Dust, and Shipment, and guarantees frequent bloodshed.

Effects such as Combat Fog will tie in with enhanced levels of detail to make Dome feel more alive than ever. Expect high-intensity games, chaotic action, and a good time!

As we get closer to Call of Duty: Vanguard’s release, Sledgehammer Games will inevitably hint towards other maps, with more to come after launch, and we’ll keep updating this page as we learn more.

In the meantime, check out all the latest on Call of Duty: Vanguard, and our full Vanguard Beta Review.

Best quickscoping loadout for Call of Duty: Vanguard Beta

Here are the best attachments, Equipment, and Perks to create the best quickscoping loadout for CoD: Vanguard’s Beta.

Published

on

Polina sniping in CoD Vanguard beta

It wouldn’t be a Call of Duty game without quickscoping, so here’s how to make the fastest Sniper Rifle loadout in CoD Vanguard’s Beta.

Sniping is a Call of Duty staple and it’s remained just as powerful in Vanguard’s Beta. Although not as quick as Sniper Rifles we’ve seen in previous titles, Vanguard’s 3-Lane Rifle pack’s a serious punch.

The Kar98k will likely be the quicker option, but can’t be unlocked in the Beta until level 26. But until you reach the Kar’s unlock level, the 3-Line Rifle is the next best thing. What makes it so powerful is that an upper-body shot is always a one-shot kill, allowing you to take down everyone in front of you.

Here’s the best loadout set up to quickscope in Call of Duty: Vanguard’s crossplay Beta.

Best Vanguard 3-Line Rifle quickscoping attachments

3-Line Rifle in Call of Duty Vanguard
  • Barrel: 270mm Voz Carbine
  • Stock: ZAC Custom MZ
  • Ammo Type: Subsonic
  • Rear Grip: Leather Grip
  • Proficiency: Awareness
  • Kit: On-Hand

As this is a quickscoping loadout, we’ve built the 3-Line Rifle purely for speed, allowing you to take on SMG or Assault Rifles, even if they see you first.

To start, the 270MM Voz Carbine barrel gives a solid boost to your ADS speed, but slightly reduces its range. So, you’ll want to try to use this quickscoping build at a close-medium range.

Then, the ZAC Custom MZ stock completely transforms the 3-Line. Your initial accuracy will be improved, so you can hit those quickscopes, plus, it also increases ADS speed. To further increase this speed, we recommend the Leather Grip.

Polina sniping in Call of Duty: Vanguard

Suppressors no longer hide players from the minimap in Vanguard, you need to use Subsonic ammunition. This hides the minimap ping, enemy skulls, and the enemy doesn’t see you firing. It’s a major help in taking out several enemies before they can react.

For Proficiency, Awareness is a solid choice to run as you’re leveling up your 3-Line Rifle. It will mark enemies’ nameplates without you having to aim at them, majorly helping your reaction time and decision making.

And for the Kit, we’ve opted for On-Hand. This Perk reduces the downtime after using equipment, allowing you to quickly get your 3-Lane up and at the ready immediately after using Lethal or Tacticals.

The rest of the attachment choices will only slow down the 3-Line, so we recommend sticking with these few for the fastest sniper loadout possible.

Best Perks & Equipment for quickscoping in Vanguard

Radar Perk in Call of Duty Vanguard

Best Perks

  • Perk 1: Ghost
  • Perk 2: Radar
  • Perk 3: Double Time

For Perk 1, Ghost is a solid choice as it keeps you hidden from Spy Planes, enemy intel, and Field Mics as long as you’re moving. You’ll be able to pull off some effective flanks with this Perk equipped.

If you prefer the traditional minimap where unsuppressed fire is shown on the map, you can’t go wrong with the Radar Perk.

And finally, Double Time doubles your Tactical Sprint time and increases crouched movement, allowing you to quickly dart around the map to keep the element of surprise.

Lethal Equipment in Call of Duty Vanguard

Best Equipment

  • Lethal Equipment: Gammon Bomb
  • Tactical Equipment: No 69 Stun Grenade

For equipment, the Gammon Bomb is an effective Lethal as it explodes on impact. Then, to limit the enemies’ vision and movement, the No 69 Stun Grenade is perfect.

How to unlock 3-Line Rifle in Vanguard’s Beta

Sniper Rifle unlocks in Call of Duty Vanguard

The 3-Line Rifle will be there for you as soon as you launch the Beta. This is especially useful for Xbox and PC players, as they’re only getting to experience one weekend of Beta action.

Once Vanguard fully releases on November 5, the 3-Line may have to be unlocked at a later rank.

Best alternatives to 3-Line in Vanguard

The second weekend of the Beta will allow players to unlock and use the Kar98k, which is expected to be much quicker than the 3-Line. However, until the Kar98k is unlocked, the 3-Line is the only quickscoping option.
