Slide canceling has been a point of contention for Call of Duty players since 2019’s Modern Warfare. With rumors suggesting that changes could be set to alter the slide cancel movement, players seem thrilled with the possibility.

While gun skill remains a vital factor for producing Call of Duty success, the ability to master movement has increased in importance over the years. This is mainly due to the introduction of slide canceling in 2019’s Modern Warfare.

A form of slide canceling has also appeared in Cold War and Vanguard, but its exact status in Modern Warfare 2 has yet to be confirmed. Nonetheless, rumors are suggesting that the slide canceling mechanic has undergone major changes, which has led to the delight of Call of Duty players.

A Reddit user uses testimonials from CoD experts Kris ‘FaZe Swagg’ Lamberson and Thomas ‘ZooMaa’ Paparatto to bring attention to the possibility of major changes affecting the slide cancel maneuver.

While nothing has been confirmed, both content creators have played Modern Warfare 2 and hinted at the changes. The discussion surrounding slide canceling led to several players voicing their thoughts on the potential removal or nerf.

The majority of the discussion reveals delight at the prospect with users claiming “I hope its removed” and “good riddance.”

As the OP explains, most players view slide canceling as something that creates an unfair advantage with the ability to break cameras through movement. It seems players are fed up with losing gunfights to players who abuse slide canceling with no legitimate counterplay.

However, one player cautioned the complete removal of slide canceling in Modern Warfare 2. Both the above comment and the OP claim that without slide canceling, Modern Warfare 2’s gameplay could slow down to the point where pre-aiming becomes unbeatable.

Ultimately, players hope that the devs can find the proper balance when it comes to slide canceling. As one player states: “I don’t want it removed completely but I do think it needed a nerf. It could get completely ridiculous at times.”

We’ll likely get our first look at the nature of slide canceling with the Modern Warfare 2 beta. You can earn the chance to secure your very own beta code by watching CDL Champs.
