Call of Duty: Vanguard is out in the wild and millions of fans are dropping in for the very first time. If you’re struggling to pick a class in the new game, a Vanguard dev told us which weapons they think will make up the Multiplayer meta.

After months of waiting, fans are finally able to get their hands on Call of Duty: Vanguard and experience the WWII action.

There’s no shortage of new weapons and maps to get to grips with, but picking your loadout in the early stages can be tough.

Luckily, a Vanguard dev told Charlie INTEL which weapons they expect to make up the meta in the early stages of the game.

Speaking in our Twitter Spaces on Thursday, November 4, 2021, we asked Creative Director for Vanguard’s Multiplayer, Greg Reisdorf, if there were any weapons that looked like they would be overpowered at launch.

He replied saying that he feels that this year’s game will favor Assault Rifles and SMGs.

From our previous playtests, and from the beta- it’s going to be our ARs and SMGs that are powerful,” he said. “I’d pin it on ARs are going to be your go-to.”

He also said that they would be “closely monitoring” the effectiveness of Shotguns after they were given a buff based on player feedback from the beta.

Following a playtest earlier in the week, our interviewer, Keshav Bhat, mentioned that players seemed to be gravitating towards the Revolving Shotgun with fire bullets.

Reisdorf put this emphasis on Assualt Rifles, SMGs, and Shotguns down to the maps and modes included in Vanguard at launch.

“The number of small maps we have is high compared to previous games, and we also have blitz,” he said. “Those combat distances are closing in quite a bit.”

Vanguard has only just dropped and fans are still finding their feet in the new game, so it might take a couple of weeks for the meta to really take shape.

Stay tuned on Charlie INTEL for all the latest news and guides on the best weapons and loadouts to run.
