CoD: Warzone players frustrated with “broken” Sykov pistol

Call of Duty: Warzone has finally added the new Sykov Pistol to the game, but the weapon is already annoying many fans.

Call of Duty: Warzone had added the Sykov Pistol, also known as the Makarov, from Modern Warfare to its ever-growing collection of guns. But the Pistol is proving to be extremely strong in the game, and fans are unhappy and now worried about Season 3.

Whether deliberate or unintentional, Warzone rarely has a balanced set of weapons with between one to three individuals towering above the rest. It’s happened before with the Kilo 141, it happened with the DMR, and most recently it was the AUG and FFAR combination.

With Warzone Season 3 on the horizon, players are wishing for a greater distribution of power, meaning everyone doesn’t need to gravitate towards the same one or two weapons. The Sykov is Warzone’s newest addition, and needless to say, the Pistol seems to be nigh-on unstoppable.

Warzone’s Official subreddit is currently littered with numerous posts bemoaning the unprecedented power of the Sykov.

The fully automatic weapon on its own is fearsome enough, boasting an insane 80-round mag, but it can also be wielded Akimbo-style to fire off 160 shots in no time at all.

As the video showed, the drop-off in the Sykov’s accuracy is irrelevant as its capability to unleash relentless barrages at close range make it extremely difficult to combat.

Another Reddit post went one step further with their complaints opting to uninstall and avoid Warzone for the foreseeable future.

The user said, “I have no problem with fast time-to-kill in Multiplayer, that’s expected. But in Warzone, I’m so tired of looting for 10 minutes only to get deleted in under half a second with no time to react. The DMR/Diamatti meta lasted way too long, the FFAR meta has lasted way too long, the AUG/M16 meta has lasted way too long, and now the Sykov has been released, which is arguably even more broken than the Diamatti.”

Furthermore, STr355 believes that players should not support the game by ignoring any Sykov bundles for CoD gamers to buy.

“If you care about the health of this game and don’t want to encourage these shitty devs to keep releasing absolutely game-breaking weapons, don’t spend money on them.”

There are more Reddit posts in addition to these with the general consensus being that the Sykov Pistol could potentially influence the entirety of Warzone Season 3. It will be interesting to see if Raven Software responds to the weapon’s reaction.

Best Warzone M16 loadout

The M16 Assault Rifle has become a popular pick in CoD: Warzone and these attachments and perks will make the best Warzone M16 loadout for Season 3.

The M16 has been used to great effect in Cold War multiplayer, and while Modern Warfare weapons like the Grau 5.56 or the Kilo 141 have dominated the meta in the past, the burst rifle has become a fan-favorite for players to wield.

With its ability to deal huge damage at far distances, the M16 is undeniably a viable weapon for medium and long-range battles.

Here are the attachments and perks to make the best Warzone M16 loadout.

  • Muzzle: Agency Silencer
  • Barrel: 15.9″ Strike Team
  • Optic: Axial Arms 3x
  • Underbarrel: Field Agent Grip
  • Ammunition: 45 Rnd mag

This M16 is best used at long range for its potential to down a fully armored opponent in only a couple of bursts. Pair this weapon with a close-range choice such as Warzone’s MAC-10 or FFAR, and you’ll find yourself a force to be reckoned with in Verdansk ’84 and Rebirth Island.

For the muzzle, the Agency Silencer is the go-to for Cold War weapons, as it not only suppresses the sound of your bullets but actually increases the M16’s damage range.

When it comes to the barrel for the best Warzone M16 loadout, the 15.9″ Strike Team is the way to go as it increases the fire rate, meaning you can fire off bursts quicker while also increasing damage. Using this in conjunction with the Field Agent Grip will help you hit long-range shots easier, as it helps control the recoil in between bursts.

The Axial Arms 3x scope is perfect for the M16. This unobtrusive sight provides great magnification for hitting faraway targets and isn’t so zoomed that you’ll lose targets at closer range. Additionally, running the 45 Rnd mag will give you more bullets to use during fights.

Perk 1 – E.O.D.

E.O.D is the perfect accompaniment for Warzone’s M16, as you’ll be able to survive a barrage of explosive damage.

Perk 2 – Overkill/Ghost

For our second perk in the best Warzone M16 loadout class, we recommend starting a loadout with Overkill and then using a second Loadout Drop to switch to a loadout with Ghost equipped.

This will give you two of your favorite weapons, with the bonus of being hidden from UAVs and Heartbeat Sensors.

Perk 3 – Amped

And finally, Amped will allow you to switch weapons faster and reload launchers faster. This is great for quickly pushing enemies in close-range situations.

How to Unlock M16 in Warzone

How to unlock the M16

Unlocking the M16 is an easy task in Black Ops Cold War and Warzone, only requiring the player to hit Level 10.

Hop into a few games of either Warzone or Cold War, and you’ll soon unlock this beast of a weapon without any trouble.

Best alternatives

If you fancy using a weapon other than the M16, there are some solid choices you can take advantage of. Although the AUG has had its recoil nerfed, it’s still one of the best weapons in the game if you can control it. And if automatic weapons are more your style, you can’t go wrong with the Stoner 63.

It’s also worth trying out Warzone’s new ZRG 20mm Sniper Rifle for some significant long-range damage.

Try out the M16 with these attachments and perks, and you’ll be using the best Warzone M16 loadout to destroy all of the enemies you come across in the Call of Duty battle royale.

The Minigun makes an unexpected return in Warzone Season 3

Following the release of the most recent update for Warzone, the Minigun made an unexpected return in Season 3 of the Call of Duty battle royale.

Warzone Minigun Season 3

The May 7, 2021 update for Warzone made some major changes to the Call of Duty battle royale, but it looks as though an unintended change regarding the Minigun made its way through into Season 3.

The Minigun was once a rare weapon that players could acquire in Warzone and mow down multiple enemies thanks to its high fire and large ammo count rate. However, the Minigun was eventually removed from the game, and players could no longer acquire the powerful weapon.

The absence of the Minigun in Warzone was unexpectedly ended on May 7, 2021, when Raven Software applied the most recent update for the Call of Duty battle royale, as players began to report that they were getting the Minigun from loot boxes on Verdansk ’84 and Rebirth Island.

Following the application of the May 7 update for Warzone, members of the community began to discuss how they were now able to find the MInigun in supply boxes when playing. It was at first unclear if this was an intended decision by Raven Software or if it something unintended that resulted from the most recent Warzone update.

Raven Software soon updated their official Trello board for issues that they are investigating with the game and stated they were investigating the Minigun spawning from supply boxes on Verdansk ’84 and Rebirth Island.

This confirmed that the Minigun was not supposed to make a return in Season 3.

The Warzone developer went on to post an announcement on its Twitter account that it had applied a playlist update to the Call of Duty battle royale that should prevent the Minigun from spawning in supply boxes but asked players to let them know if the Minigun return issue was still persisting following the playlist update.

While the return of the Minigun in Warzone Season 3 was not supposed to happen, there are sure to be some players who took advantage and were able to have some fun with the powerful weapon before Raven Software pushed the playlist update to stop the Minigun from spawning.

Unfortunately for these players, it looks as though the unexpected return of the Minigun in Warzone Season 3 was a short-lived experience for the community.

How Warzone devs decide which weapons to buff & nerf

Warzone’s developers, Raven Software, has explained how they decide which popular weapons to buff and nerf.

How Warzone devs decide which weapons to buff & nerf

Following Warzone’s update on May 7, Raven Software has explained their thought process behind buffing and nerfing some of the game’s most popular weapons.

Going into Warzone Season 3, Raven Software made some significant changes to the game’s most popular and powerful weapons. Over the course of Season 3, they have continued to stay on top of weapon balance, although some changes haven’t been as welcome by the community.

In the Season 3 patch notes, they teased a nerf to the CR-56 AMAX and then reaffirmed this nerf in their April 28 patch notes. This nerf didn’t sit well with high-profile members of the community, but as of May 7, it took effect, with the weapon’s damage being reduced by one.

In the May 7 patch notes, Warzone’s devs prefaced their list of weapon buffs and nerfs with some insight into their thought process before buffing and nerfing weapons.

Warzone AMAX

“There are millions of you, and when we reduce the effectiveness of a weapon, we are bound to make a change to someone’s favorite gun,” Raven Software explained. “As players of this game ourselves, it pains us just as much.”

They explained how they “remain torn” when nerfing a weapon, but they do it with the intent of promoting diversity.

Certain weapons, such as the DMR 14, FFAR 1, and AUG were so powerful that they were the only viable weapons, and using anything else would put you at a significant disadvantage. Raven said they believe “what makes a game truly engaging is choice,” and admitted that certain weapons diminished that choice.

Warzone DMR 14

However, they feel that the game is close to a “balance homeostasis” where most weapons “are at the very least viable.” But that leaves time to kill (TTK) as the final thing for them to address. They’re looking to have a higher time to kill across the board, or at least make it so that it will require skill to reach a low TTK.

Raven Software asked players to “consider these changes not as targeted attacks, but rather as part of a larger initiative to raise the skill ceiling.”

On top of the weapon nerfs in the recent updates, they have buffed the PPSH-41 and will be looking at buffing some of the “struggling” Modern Warfare weapons.
