Cold War devs respond to issues with PlayStation 5 controller
One of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s devs has cleared up an issue regarding the use of PlayStation 5 controllers on PC.
PCs are normally very accommodating when it comes to supporting different controllers. Whereas the conventional setup revolves around a comfy mouse and keyboard, most PCs allow users to mix and match.
In the same way that you can use a game controller to play CoD: Mobile, you can also play Black Ops Cold War using different PlayStation and Xbox controllers. However, a complaint about the use of PS5 controllers on the PC version has prompted a response from Treyarch.
Treyarch Community Manager Josh “FoxhoundFPS” Torres is a reliable source of feedback who regularly engages with the player base to assist with any persistent matters to do with CoD: Cold War.
He recently engaged in a back-and-forth with a Black Ops Cold War player who was dissatisfied about the game’s reported inability to cater for PlayStation 5 controllers.
The original question asked, “Will you guys ever fix controller input on PC? Trying to use my PS5 controller on Cold War but it won’t let me change it. It’s locked.”
An ensuing exchange took place to try and reach the bottom of things until Josh found out some vital information regarding PS5 controllers on PC.
So for the time being, PC players are unable to play CoD: Black Ops Cold War using a PlayStation 5 controller.
We are still only a few months removed from the release of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, so it’s understandable if additional controller compatibility hasn’t been at the top of the priority list.
It’s safe to assume that by raising this query, PC players with PS5 access can expect to be able to use their PS5 controllers on PC sooner rather than later now. In the meantime, CoD players can still enjoy the new Season 3 content in the normal way.
