Best AK-47 loadout for CoD: Cold War Season 5
The AK-47 Assault Rifle is extremely powerful in Cold War Season 5, and these are the attachments and Perks to make the perfect loadout.
As with every Call of Duty game, the AK-47 is a tank of an Assault Rifle with some exciting but manageable recoil. Here is how you can make the best Cold War AK-47 loadout in Season 5.
In a game primarily defined by the strength of its SMGs such as the TEC-9 and LC10, Cold War does boast some quality Assault Rifles with a quick time-to-kill. You’ll need some awesome firepower in Season 5.
The firepower of the AK-47 has never been in question, and it has become even more powerful as the season progress. Following Season 5 Reloaded, the AK remains one of the best choices available, and our AK-47 loadout will see to the choppy recoil and make the gun a great addition to your loadout.

Best AK-47 loadout attachments for Cold War Season 5
- Muzzle: Suppressor
- Barrel: 20″ Liberator
- Underbarrel: Spetsnaz Grip
- Magazine: 40 Rnd
- Handle: GRU Elastic Wrap
Given how potent the AK-47 is on its own in Black Ops Cold War, we think you’ll only need five attachments, so we would recommend selecting Perk Greed as a Wildcard.
The AK-47 has pretty clean iron sights, so you’re safe to leave the irons and add a barrel attachment instead. We recommend the 20″ Liberator for an all-important boost to its bullet velocity. Buffs in Cold War Season 5 also reduced the Suppressors bullet velocity penalty, so it’s well worth using on your AK-47.
One of the biggest things we’re trying to secure for the AK is its accuracy and recoil, and the Spetsnaz Grip is one of the most significant ways to lock it down. The GRU Elastic Wrap offers a healthy boost to ADS to improve its speed and mobility, and the 40 Rnd mag allows us some spare shots.
Best Perks to run with the AK-47 in Cold War Season 5
- Perk 1: Tactical Mask & Flak Jacket
- Perk 2: Assassin & Gearhead
- Perk 3: Ghost & Gung-Ho
With Perk Greed, you have six options to choose. The AK-47 is strong at all distances, especially with the extra bullet velocity the barrel provides.
Tactical Mask will prevent non-lethal equipment from disrupting you, and Flak Jacket provides the usual immunity to explosives – a regular occurrence in Cold War.
Assassin is fantastic for extra points, and Quartermaster lets you use more equipment to stop people sneaking up on you.
Ghost is a universally loved perk that hides you from radar, and Gung-Ho is useful for extra mobility and a quick weapon switching if your ammo runs dry.
Most recent AK-47 buffs & nerfs in Cold War
The AK-47 was last directly buffed back in Season 4 when its Suppressor attachments’ behavior was changed.
- Reduced range penalty on Suppressor muzzle attachment from 15% to 13%.
- Increased range penalty on GRU Suppressor muzzle attachment from 25% to 27%
How to unlock the AK-47 in Cold War
Reach Level 7, and you’ll be using be brandishing this classic weapon in no time at all.
Best alternatives to Cold War’s AK-47
If you feel that the AK-47 isn’t for you, give our LC10 loadout a try to see if mobility and an exhilarating rate of fire are for you. Or, you could use the ever-powerful Krig 6 to dominate enemies over range.

Hardcore Cold War Outbreaks Zombie mode: No health regen or minimap
The Numbers Event has welcomed a new twist on Black Ops Cold War’s Outbreak game mode, find out all the changes here.
Black Ops Cold War Outbreak fans have been given a new challenge by Treyarch as the new hardcore variation has arrived in Season 5. The limited-time mode has interesting twists on the regular format, and we have them all here for you.
Here’s everything we know about the new hardcore Outbreak Survival mode in Black Ops Cold War Season 5.
What is Outbreak Zombies hardcore mode in Cold War?
As with normal hardcore variations of standard Call of Duty game modes, the new hardcore Outbreak mode takes away useful resources from the player.
An informative Tweet from the official Treyarch Twitter account revealed all the differences between normal Outbreak and the hardcore variation.
Here are the key points concerning Cold War’s hardcore Outbreak mode:
- Health regen disabled
- Scavenge for food to survive
- Start with a 1911 pistol
- No mini-map, overhead map, or Blueprints
- Survive as long as you can!
The biggest factors now are the lack of any health regeneration and no maps to guide you around the mission areas.
How long is hardcore Outbreak Zombies in Black Ops Cold War for?
It seems like players will need to cram as many games in as they can in the next month as the presence of the hardcore mode won’t last that long.
It’s expected that once The Numbers Event concludes, so will the Outbreak LTM. Meaning, hardcore Outbreak will be leaving on Tuesday, October 5.
Hopefully, you can get as many games in as possible before the game mode leaves Cold War as we approach the game’s, presumably, sixth and final season.
