While the R1 Shadowhunter crossbow can be a fun challenge to give yourself in Cold War’s hectic multiplayer, Trophy Systems intercepting the bolts make it extremely frustrating to use.
The Trophy System is a defensive tool that has been around since Modern Warfare 3, designed to block incoming explosives such as grenades and rockets. When playing objective modes in Black Ops Cold War, you’ll often see the hills stacked with these Field Upgrades to protect those on the point.
However, now that the R1 Shadowhunter crossbow has arrived, players have discovered that the Trophy System blocks its bolts, making them all-the-more frustrating to come up against.
Reddit user ‘justicedeliverer1‘ shared their thoughts on why “Crossbow bolts should not be intercepted by Trophy Systems.”
“[The crossbow] has only a few bolts and it requires skill to use,” they explained. “And currently there’s no way to counter a camper with a Trophy System using it.”

The majority of users in the comments section agreed with their reasoning, with cjpack explaining that players “already pay a steep price choosing to use this weapon over any other weapon with all the draw backs, this is so unnecessary.”
The R1 Shadowhunter is tough to use by design, but players passively unlocking Trophies and throwing them down can render the Season 2 weapon useless.
The Trophy’s in-game description is as follows: “Destroys thrown enemy equipment and launcher missiles within 10 meters.” As the crossbow bolt is fired from a weapon, therefore neither equipment nor a launcher missile, it’s unclear whether this feature was intentional.
This also dug up an older frustration with the Cold War community where Tomahawks and Molotovs are intercepted by Trophy Systems. These pieces of equipment aren’t explosive, so it’s especially frustrating when your well-aimed Tomahawk, which is sure to be clip-worthy, just disappears after being hit by a Trophy System.
If Treyarch responds or gives any update to this mechanic, we’ll be sure to let you know. If you’re looking to find your new favorite gun in the meantime, you can check out our Cold War weapons tier list.

Glitch giving free Stitch Skin to Black Ops Cold War players
A glitch has been giving Black Ops Cold War players access to a new Stitch skin ahead of the Season 3 update for the first-person shooter.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War players have been confused about having access to a new Stitch skin ahead of the Season 3 update for the first-person shooter.
Stitch is one of the many Operators that players can choose to play as in Black Ops Cold War when they are gunning down zombies or battling it out against other players in multiplayer.
Skins for these Operators can be acquired through various means, but it looks as though a bug is currently allowing players to have a new Stitch skin unlocked without having to do anything.
Over on Twitter, The Baron of ZLand showed off this Stitch Brute skin and how they thought they were likely not supposed to have this skin unlocked when they launched Black Ops Cold War. Other players also have reported gaining access to this cosmetic item even if they did not have Stitch unlocked.
Players were able to use this new skin in matches and quickly discovered that the character was barefoot when using it.
This lead to many believing that having access to the skin was a mistake and that this unfinished nature of the item meant that Treyarch did not intend for it to be in the hands of players yet.
The Baron of ZLand later posted a tweet saying that this free Stitch skin had been removed from their inventory, lending more support to the idea that it had been an unintentional addition to the cosmetic inventories of players ahead of the Season 3 update for Black Ops Cold War.
While players are likely going to have to wait till later on in Season 3 to get their hands on this Stitch skin officially, there is still a wide array of exciting changes that will be taking place when the Season 3 update for Black Ops Cold War officially goes live on April 21 and April 22.
From a group of brand new weapons like the PPSH and Swiss K31 to a multitude of new maps for players to battle each other on, there will be plenty for players to enjoy when they finally get to use this Stitch Brute skin at some point in the future.

Frustrating R1 Shadowhunter unlock bug now affecting Cold War Zombies
A frustrating glitch with unlocking the R1 Shadowhunter Crossbow appears to have returned with Zombies in Cold War Season 3.
Although Black Ops Cold War’s devs fixed the issue with the R1 Shadowhunter Crossbow not unlocking for players, the problem appears to have resurfaced now that it can be unlocked through playing Zombies.
Zombies players have long been frustrating with new weapons, such as the ZRG 20mm and E-Tool, only being unlocked through multiplayer. Treyarch addressed this issue in the Season 3 update, and now all DLC weapons have their own challenges for the Zombies mode.
However, a frustrating glitch with unlocking R1 Shadowhunter Crossbow has appeared to have returned following this welcomed update.
Although players had completed all of the requirements for the R1 Shadowhunter Crossbow, they still couldn’t unlock it. After community uproar, the developers patched this annoying bug and players were able to unlock their crossbow.
However, now that the R1 Shadowhunter can be unlocked by playing Zombies, a player has seemingly run into the same problem.
Posting to Reddit, user Putrid_Parasite said, “I really hope this isn’t a bug,” with the R1 Shadowhunter’s challenge being complete but the weapon still being locked.
Players often get caught out by the fact you must finish your match for challenge progress to count, so another user checked that our player didn’t make this critical mistake. Putrid_Parasite said that they let the Zombies kill them, ending the match naturally.
Of course, this glitch could be because Cold War Season 3 hasn’t officially launched yet. Cold War’s Season 3 update went live ahead of the official launch and brought some features with it, including the removal of slide canceling.
As this feature is designed for Season 3, perhaps the weapons will unlock once the Season officially goes live on April 22.
Treyarch haven’t listed this bug on their official Trello board, but with Season 3 only hours away, expect this to only be acknowledged and fixed if it persists into the new season.
A new map is being added to Cold War’s Outbreak mode, so hopefully, you can unlock the R1 Shadowhunter Crossbow while playing Duga.

Devs respond to match cancellation issues affecting League Play in Cold War
Treyarch have disabled the match cancellation feature in Black Ops Cold War after it caused problems in League Play.
Treyarch have listened to player feedback and decided to address some of the glaring issues affecting League Play in Black Ops Cold War, including match cancellation issues.
The Zombies invasion of Verdansk is about to come to its epic conclusion, and the highly-anticipated Season 3 of both Black Ops Cold War and Warzone is set to begin. So, the devs are working full-time to make this transition smooth.
Listening to player feedback regarding technical problems within League Play has been a main priority for Treyarch, and now they’ve addressed the issue with the match cancellations feature that has been plaguing several players.
Treyarch’s Community Manager Josh “FoxhoundFPS” Torres went on Reddit to respond to the alleged glitch in Cold War that prevented ping from tracking. In this same thread, the issue with match cancellations came up as well.
This feature would take effect as soon as one of the players in a match abandoned the game, canceling the match altogether. It was disabled a short while after it was first added, much to the confusion of players.
After addressing the ping glitch, Josh wrote: “Thanks for sharing. Match Cancellations have gone live early, and we’ll be disabling them soon. We’ll have more to share at a later date.”
It’s understandable why the devs thought it would be best to add a cancellation feature. If you’re the only one left on your team in a League Play match, then victory can be near impossible to achieve.
This new feature would ensure that players that don’t have the advantage of numbers on their side wouldn’t get punished. Hopefully, we’ll see get another update regarding this situation from the devs soon.
