Black Ops Cold War players are disappointed with the Gun Game mode’s weapon line-up, calling it “unbearable” to play and want changes.
Gun Game has long been a fan-favorite mode in Call of Duty. Usually played as Free-for-All, players progress onto a new weapon with each kill, with getting melee’d moving you back a weapon, and the first player to cycle through every weapon winning.
However, Black Ops Cold War players have been disappointed with the weapon line-up in Gun Game, which arrived with Season 2. A post by Reddit user ‘TulkSmash‘ explained the problems with Black Ops Cold War’s version of the mode, and gave some suggestions on how it can be improved.
The last few weapons are meant to be flashy for a great game-winning killcam. The original Black Ops had the Ballistic Knife as the final weapon, and Modern Warfare required you to use the Throwing Knife.
Black Ops Cold War has the knife as the last weapon, but even more frustrating, fists are the second last. As TulkSmash explains, trying to get a kill with your fists is “unbearable.” It takes two punches to kill a player at full health, and even worse, enemies with a weapon in their hand can more effectively melee you back.
“Having to punch someone and then stab someone at the end of the game is a massive flaw in the flow of Gun Game,” reasoned TulkSmash.
Gun Game has the radar always on to increase the pace of the game, but this makes it all the more frustrating when trying to get a melee kill, as the element of surprise is non-existent.
What TulkSmash suggests, that the Reddit community has got behind, is to “take out the punch completely,” put the upcoming Crossbow in second place once, and “make the last kill a tomahawk.” For extra style points, the final killcam should focus on this last kill rather than a ‘play of the game.’
Modern Warfare had a random assortment of weapons to cycle through, but at the time of writing, Black Ops Cold War only has one set. For the longevity of this classic mode, players feel that Gun Game needs these changes.

Cold War players want unique Numbers Broadcast Scorestreak idea in Season 5
A Cold War player has come up with an inventive Scorestreak that would play on the Numbers theme of Black Ops Cold War Season 5.
One player has come up with a clever Scorestreak idea that would turn friendly players hostile in Black Ops Cold War Season 5, playing on the Numbers theme to manipulate players.
Needless to say that Call of Duty Scorestreaks generally fall into one of a few different categories. You’ve got defensive ones like the Air Patrol, ground weapons like the Hand Cannon or Bow, and all-out aerial dominators like the VTOL, Chopper Gunner, and Gunship.
It’s rare that a new concept lights up streaks, but one player may have come up with an ingenious one. They have mentioned the possibility of using mind control to warp the enemy team and create chaos on the inside.
The idea comes courtesy of the Black Ops Cold War subreddit and they name the Scorestreaks as “Numbers Broadcast.”
Here is the official description of what they think the Scorestreak would involve. “When activated, the sleeper agents will rise, thus some soldiers on the enemy team will have their friendlies show up as enemies in red on the map and friendly fire will be enabled.
“In a franchise this old and frequent, brand new streaks that work in new ways are rare to find, and this is the perfect opportunity to have one.”
It sounds like a unique idea, and one that might need to be one of the game’s pricier Scorestreaks, given how it could basically lock players out.
It could either mean you’d have to be temporarily wary of every player in the game, or the A.I could even take control of a select number of teammates on a team.
Either way, with Black Ops’ history of psychological manipulation, this might be a streak tailor-made for Call of Duty.

Warzone & Cold War Season 5 Operator officially revealed in key art
Key art for Warzone and Cold War Season 5 has reportedly been leaked, revealing the upcoming Operator and a brand-new weapon.
Call of Duty: Warzone and Cold War’s Season 5 Operator and theme have been officially revealed in artwork for the new season.
Warzone and Cold War Season 4 brought a ton of new content to both games, but we’re fast approaching Season 5. There are no official details on what the new season will entail, but one of the biggest expectations is that WW2 Vanguard will be revealed inside Warzone.
However, the Season 5 artwork was reportedly leaked, giving us a look at the brand-new Operator and weapon coming with this new Season before the artwork was officially confirmed by the Call of Duty franchise.
Call of Duty leaker and data miner Nanikos posted a ton of information about Warzone and Cold War Season 5 to the GamingLeaksAndRumours subreddit. Here, they shared an Imgur link to the leaked Season 5 artwork.
In this image, we can see the supposed Season 5 Operator ‘Kitsune’ wielding what appears to be akimbo TEC-9 Pistols. She’s also surrounded by the numbers associated with Black Ops and Warzone’s Red Doors, so the season will likely continue this ongoing story.
This leak was then officially confirmed on August 3, 2021, when the official Call of Duty Twitter account posted the previously leaked artwork while confirming that Season 5 for Black Ops Cold War and Warzone will start on August 12.
Providing more information, Nanikos said that the season is “Japanese themed” and will feature the TEC-9 Pistol that can be spotted in the artwork.
Nanikos also said that we’ll “probably see” the classic Summit map in a new Outbreak region as well as a standalone Summit for 6v6 multiplayer. While there’s no confirmation that they will come in Season 5, the leaker said they “know they’re coming” and will be in Season 6 if not. This follows the recent leak that Cold War will receive 12 more maps.
Nanikos continued that “there is also still PHD and Double Tap for zombies and the lightning links field upgrade” still to come.
Besides the Season 5 artwork that has been officially revealed, all of the other leaks should be taken with the standard pinch of salt. Season 5 is set to launch on August 12, and we’ll know the concrete details when Treyarch and Raven Software releases the official roadmap ahead of this date.
