Confused CoD: Vanguard players desperate for faction uniforms

Factions have been staple of the Call of Duty for many year’s, but their removal in Vanguard is making it hard to tell who is who.

Call of Duty: Vanguard has been criticized for its lack of identifiable factions throughout its Beta. Now, a Reddit video has shown that similar character models are causing confusion among players.

Players taking part in the Call of Duty: Vanguard Beta have raised several potential issues with the next CoD title, from the mini-map to the distortion that affects aiming.

But one of the biggest complaints coming out of the Beta is the lack of factions like the Allies and Axis, which are pivotal to a World War II setting.

The debate is heating up once again, as players have claimed that similar character uniforms for the Vanguard Factions are causing chaos in multiplayer matches.

Vanguard characters in a line

In a post entitled “Why we need faction uniforms,” Reddit user KiraElijah uploaded a video that seems to prove that Sledgehammer’s decision to make teammates and enemies look almost identical is leading to cases of mistaken identity.

In the video, the player aims out of a window and scores a handful of rapid kills. When they stop aiming down the scope, they find that an enemy player crouched at the same window.

The enemy was utterly unaware that they were directly next to a rival player, and it led to a quick death that they almost certainly didn’t see coming.

Other fans responded to the post, reporting similar instances where they had “no clue” whether they were running with enemies or teammates. The issue of there being no specific uniforms for Vanguard Factions seems to be more evident on smaller maps where there are many players in an objective.

Some Beta players have even tied altering their settings to try and make visibility better and stop any confusion.

“I’ve changed the settings in color customization. I basically just made the enemy color a brighter red,” said one user. “It helps but doesn’t fix the issues.”

The reason for Sledgehammer removing Vanguard factions is currently unknown. Still, it has been speculated it could be to do with promoting more character customization or distancing the devs from controversial topics like the Axis in WWII.

It remains to be seen if the developers will react to the communities complaints and add a better way of recognizing enemies.

As Call of Duty: Vanguard is still in its beta phase, there is plenty of time to make changes before its release date.

CoD Vanguard Zombies marketing hints at London map

Some new, interesting Call of Duty: Vanguard Zombies marketing has hinted at a possible London map coming in the future.

A London-based Zombies map could be in the pipeline for Call of Duty: Vanguard’s Zombies game mode if some new marketing is anything to go by.

Vanguard Zombies could be in for a British invasion if the newest CoD marketing hint is to be taken very literally.

Whereas Call of Duty’s online multiplayer is generally the focus of each CoD title, Zombies is usually not too far behind as the loyal fanbase continues to yearn for more Zombies maps and innovations – such as Outbreak.

Activision understands this, so as well as the already-confirmed Der Anfang map, some new Vanguard physical marketing placements could already be suggesting what the next map’s location is going to be.

Currently situated in Brick Lane East London is a cool piece of marketing to advertise the upcoming Zombies mode in Call of Duty: Vanguard.

Posted by RobMCDuk in the COD Zombies subreddit, some pictures of the interesting promotion are available.

It inevitably didn’t take long for fans to start speculating on the possibility of a new London-based Zombies map.

surfstefan said: “What if we’re finally getting a London map after all these years? That would be very funny.” Whereas another user also added: “Probably a zombified London docks for the new game mode.”

This could be a distinct possibility as it was rumored several months ago that WW2’s London Docks map would be making a return, so there’s every chance it makes a reappearance with an undead rebrand.

It should also be pointed out, however, that Sledgehammer Games have just opened a new studio in Guildford, not far from London, so it could just be a nod to that.

In any event, this is a fun bit of appreciation for Zombies to be given its own marketing like this, and we shall have to wait and see if any London-based content will happen.

The official reveal of CoD: Vanguard’s Zombies mode has shown off many elements that players can expect, including a first look at one of the Perks – Stamin-Up.

The fun part of pre-game hype for CoD Zombies is wondering what new enemies we’ll see, the new Wonder Weapons, abilities, and of course – Perks.

Treyarch’s October 14 reveal of Der Anfang showed off a litany of terrifying new Zombies, a darker approach to the Zombies world, and even managed to sneak in a look at one of the Perks and its dispenser.

When you think of Call of Duty Zombies Perks, you think of Juggernog, Speed Cola, Quick Revive, and Double Tap Root Beer. They are the original four Perks that introduced the concept to Zombies.

Since then, there have been many Perks that have had reoccurring roles in subsequent games, and one of these is the legendary Stamin-Up Perk.

It’s gone on to become one of the most important and critical Perks for long runs as the ability to sprinter faster and for longer is vital to escaping perilous situations.

Here is a sneaky glimpse of it in one of the official screenshots.

The striking thing about the Perk is the absence of any discernible vending machines to purchase a can or bottle from.

It seems very much like a magical drink fountain that players will be able to gulp down a few mouthfuls of secret formula to get their sprint on.

As we get closer to Call of Duty: Vanguard’s release, more screenshots, and footage will be sure to uncover another Perk or two.

CoD Zombies players furious over no round-based Vanguard map at launch

Zombies fans have voiced their displeasure about Vanguard’s lack of a round-based Zombies map at the game’s launch.

Despite Der Anfang shaping up to be one of the most intense and unique Zombies experiences ever, fans are unhappy that Vanguard will feature no round-based map at launch.

The Call of Duty Zombies experience is continuing as Treyarch develops the Dark Aether story in Vanguard. However, the debut map – Der Anfang – isn’t a traditional round-based map, and potential players aren’t happy.

Every CoD game that has had Zombies has always launched with round-based Zombies content, and this will mark the first time that a Call of Duty game hasn’t done this.

Black Ops Cold War’s starting map – Die Maschine – was the perfect example of classic CoD, start in a confined space, slowly accumulate points from early rounds, buy doors, Perks, eventually Pack-A-Punch, and you’re off.

Call of Duty: Vanguard’s Zombies portion of the game was revealed on October 14 with a tasty reveal trailer. But once Treyarch began to filter information through about Der Anfang, players became concerned.

“Why do they think we don’t want round based maps?” was the question posed by Reddit user Dreww_115, in response to Der Anfang not being a classic-style map.

They said: “With the vanguard map seemingly being like outbreak 2.0 and not a round based map I am left wondering why the developers think we don’t want a classic round based map.”

The question was counter-pointed by an articulate response pointing out the potential developing schedule of Treyarch: “You have misunderstood everything mate. It’s not a matter of what we want but a matter of what they can deliver with the hell of a schedule they have.”

He continued: “Activision made Treyarch release Cold War one year earlier and also made them make this year’s zombies mode too. They literally didn’t have the time to release a round-based map for launch.

This comment generated nearly 300 upvotes and it’s clear that this response has had some impact on players concerned for the future of Zombies.

It’s highly unlikely that Treyarch will ignore purely round-based Zombies content, and given that Vanguard will probably have a full-year cycle, we’d expect to see several of them.
