PlayStation Discord account linking release date & available consoles
As of January 31, some players are able to link their Discord to their PlayStation consoles. The release is a gradual one and you may want to verify if it’s available in your region as of now.
For those wondering which PlayStation consoles it will be available on, rest assured both PS4 and PS5 owners can utilize the new feature.
How to link your PlayStation & Discord accounts
Follow these simple steps to connect your Discord account to PSN:
- Open Discord and go to the User Settings and click Connections.
- Select the PlayStation logo.
- Sign into your PSN account via the new window.
- Once signed in, you will find two new options on your Connections page: Display on Profile or Display PlayStation Network as your status. If toggled on, you can show your Discord friends what games you’re playing.
Discord also suggests that you enter your PSN privacy settings and ensure that your PSN Online Status and Now Playing options are “visible to anyone” or Discord will not be able to see them.
Is Discord App coming to PlayStation?
According to a report from gaming news outlet ‘eXputer,’ Sony is planning to integrate Discord Voice Chat in the “coming months.” This will allow players to voice chat directly through the app that connects to the PlayStation.
The integration is said to happen during Version 7.00, which industry insider Tom Henderson claims will release on March 8, 2023. This is great for those on platforms other than PlayStation, as they will be able to use Discord similarly to how the friends tab on PlayStation and Xbox works.
Further, as Discord acts as a place for those with the same interests to connect, PlayStation players looking for more friends to play certain games with would be able to use the app to discover new players.
