CS2 players have experienced a major ban wave as the devs look to crack down on the hackers and cheaters that plague the tactical experience.

Counter-Strike 2 is a very tactical FPS game that requires a lot of time to master. Knowing the lines of sight and when to push is vital, and while optimized settings and tricks such as bunny hopping are important, practice makes perfect at the end of the day.

That said, there are CS2 players in the community that unfortunately undermine the skill required to become a great player, using hacks to make life easier.

The devs are cracking down on these players in CS2, as the first major ban wave hit the community on October 2, 2023.

X user CrudeUK reported on the ban wave, as they said the “largest counter strike 2 cheat has been detected and users are being mass banned.”

In the X post’s replies, Crude follows up by showing an abundance of banned CS2 accounts caught in the wave. Some of the players were “high tier accounts” that were ultimately “injected with the detected cheat.”

Crude said, “Imagine cheating with 2 Dragon Lores, Howl and Desert Hyda AND MORE,” clearly shocked that players with such great loot would risk their accounts being banned due to cheats.

Some of these items are very expensive as well, as the Counter-Strike community holds particular skins in high regard.

Further, Crude also highlighted a banned user that had “584 accounts,” as they were “all linked to the same phone number.” While many were banned, there are still players out there “flexing” the same cheat that others were banned for.

More ban waves are likely to happen in the future for CS2, which is great for the legit community who are trying to enjoy the game without hackers running the experience. For now, check out how many people are playing CS2 and the one bug that players actually want Valve to keep in the game.
