Is CS2 coming to Steam Deck?
ValveThe highly anticipated CS2 is finally out for players to enjoy, but many are wondering whether it’s available on Steam Deck. Here’s everything you need to know about playing CS2 on Steam Deck.
CS2, the sequel to Valve’s most popular first-person shooter, has been available for a few weeks for players to enjoy. While a majority of players are off to grinding the Premier and Competitive modes, many are wondering when the Workshop Maps will come to CS2.
However, all of these players are playing on the PC platform, which begs the question, is CS2 available on Steam Deck, being Valve’s own handheld console? Let’s explore below.
Can you play CS2 on Steam Deck?
While Valve hasn’t announced it yet, CS2 can be installed and played on the Steam Deck. Its predecessor, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, has already proved that it can run smoothly on the handheld console. However, despite Valve giving CS2 a ‘playable’ commendation on the Steam Deck, it appears players are experiencing some stutter and lag issues on the platform.
With only a few weeks since CS2’s release, it’s likely that Valve will patch the issues for Steam Deck. Even though the Steam Deck is just over a year old now, it can easily run demanding titles like Cyberpunk 2077, Elden Ring, and even the VR-based Half-Life: Alyx, although the latter needs some tricks and workarounds to function.
We’ll make sure to provide an update here when Valve officially announces the release of CS2 on Steam Deck.
